Hi Everyone
I need help with EVO 8 ECU conversion to EVO 5.
I have researched and found information about EVO 8 ECU conversion to EVO 5.
I saw there were many results about EVO 8 ECU to EVO 4 and EVO 6.
And looks like EVO 5 and 6 are almost the same ECU pin info.
I follow the other people's ECU swap results, but somehow my EVO 5 engine won't turn on.
Follow information is what I been done to my EVO 5.
We trying to set up our EVO 5 as Speed Density with EVO 8 ECU.
Pin swap and change is...
Pin Switch = 8 and 22 (fuel pump and A/C control replay)
Pin Removed 87 and 91 (ACD and IC Sprayer)
Pin Swap = 20 to 32 and 21 to 34
1) We used Spoolinup Speed Density Harness Kit.
EDM/JDM Harness - GM MAP Connector
(Disconnected factory MAF sensor)
2) Installed the IAT sensor to the intake manifold.
3) Installed Omni 4bar MAP sensor to intake manifold.
4) Installed 3-Port Solenoid
5) Disable the immobilizer and use the Tephra V7 SD base map
We tried every different way, but the car engine won't turn on.
When we put back the EVO 5 OEM ECU with the SD map then the car engine turns on.
But as soon as we swap all the ECU pins and switch to EVO 8 ECU with Tephra V7 SD base map then the car won't start.
Please advise if anyone knows what's going on.
Thank you!
I just put a evo 7 ecu in a evo 4 swap, and it did not turn on until I left the fuel pump pin unchanged (leave it on number 8)
I did change pins 8 and 22 because when I look at the EVO 8 ECU diagram it shows pin# 8 is for A/C Comp Relay and 22 was Fuel Pump Relay. and EVO 4/5/6 PIN# 8 is Fuel Pump Relay and 22 was A/C Comp Relay. So what you saying is forget about what's said on the EVO 8 ECU Diagram and just don't change pins # 8 and 22? Please advise Thanks!
Do you have a MAF available? maybe try to start with maf and then move on to SD
Car Crank it, but it won't stay idle.
It just turns off right away...
The funny thing is when we put back the EVO 5 ECU with speed density (swap pin 85 to 75) the engine turns on and the car runs fine.
Also EVO 5 ECU with MAF working fine.
But as soon as we put EVO 8 ECU SD won't work.
We swap the pins as below
Pin Switch = 8 and 22 (fuel pump and A/C control replay)
Pin Removed 87 and 91 (ACD and IC Sprayer)
Pin Swap = 20 to 32 and 21 to 34
also, we tried without switching the 8 and 22.
Right now we using spoolinup EDM/JDM SD Harness.
Do you know what is the MAP and IAT ECU pins from EVO 8 ECU?
We might just need a connect the wires directly to ECU.
I guess your ecu swap is Ok since it turns on, should be a tuning issue
The basic map was fine.
We started the engine with the EVO 8 ECU (SD) !!!
We changed the pin and wire like the previous swap information, but one more pin was added.
It's Finn 73.
So the total pins and wires we swap are...
Pin Switch = 8 and 22 (fuel pump and A/C control replay)
Pin Removed 87 and 91 (ACD and IC Sprayer)
Pin Move = Move pins 20 to 32 and 21 to 34
Pin Add = 73 (Add pin) to MAP sensor 12v (yellow) wire.
If you look at the drawing of the EVO8 ECU, pin 73 is MDP.
However, the ECU 73 does not have a pin.
So when I put a new pin in number 73 and connected this wire to the MAP sensor 12V (yellow) wire, the engine started.
But I think we should modify the base map.
Because the idle is not stable and too low, which is below 600rpm, it has to give a little gas to order to keep up the stay idle.
I think this problem can be solved by slightly modifying the fuel, air, and idling of the base map.
I hope this can be done and we can finish the tuned.
