Track setup questions/tips?

I been regularly going to buttonwillow and thunderhill. Been having trouble rolling onto the triangle wear indicators. I have rt660 255/35/18, the weird thing is I have been running 28-29psi hot and it absolutely grips and I can feel the tires confidently, I tried to raise the pressures to 34psi hot to stop the roll over on triangles, but anything over 30 psi feels extremely greasy and I’m just losing grip lap times show I’m losing time too. At 33-34 psi it stops rolling over, but it’s so greasy. What do you guys run hot psi on rt660?

28-29 psi hot sounds pretty low, but produces consistent better lap times
do I just need more camber?

feals 10k/12k
Rear sway bar 24mm
Align specs
camber front -2.8 rear -1.8
Toe 0 all around

Note that I emphasized "begins" in my reply.

A lowered Evo loses camber in bump and A LOT of camber in roll. Depending how low you are, -4.5deg may be required.

Im not too low i don't believe, im at 13.75F and 13.5R fender to center wheel, with whiteline roll center kit. Having the front uprights to correct suspesion geometry being this low would be nice.

What tires do you guys run on track, and what hot pressures?

personally I dont go over 32psi hot. I run 4-4.5deg (i dont use alignment services), 18k/15k, RSB at softest. I'm bored with just lapping now and go for TA kind of sessions and I get the 'greasy' feel around 2-3 hot laps

My car sits that low, maybe just a half inch for aesthetics. I clear speed bumps but ill get a scrape here and there. Might need to go stiffer on the coil over springs

@Vicious LSD I may have figured the issue I was having, have a friend with an evo 9 same exact coilovers, sway bars, height, tires etc. I tried his car at 34psi hot and it felt like my 28-30psi hot. But when I run 34 psi hot it feels like im driving on an overinflated balloon, I realized the only difference is the tire side wall height, im 255/35/18 and hes 255/40/17 so with less volume in my tire I feel at the higher tire pressures, the tires balloon and feel like ****, so i run less pressures but have more roll over. Time to up my camber to -3.2 front -2.2 rear from my recent -2.8f and -1.7r.

3.2 is still not much. What toe settings are you running?

yup, I noticed your tire looked pinched(more prone to 'ballooning'). in my (nonprofessional) experience +1/2" more wheel width over the maximum 'recommended' wheel width of the tire work best (the RT660 run wider too ). I ran 11" wheels with 285 RT660, 10.5" with 285 RE71R, 11" with 285 RE71RS.

@Terror Rising 0 toe all around, ill experiment with 3.2 for now im scared of losing straight line braking power.

Hmm maybe ill fit some 265/35/18 next time. So the sidewall will be abit taller more more volume.

We run 4-5 deg front camber - that’s the first thing I’d do.

next would be wider wheels.

these cars are nose heavy pigs with a ****ty front suspension design so they’re going to roll over tires we just try to minimize it as much as possible.

I suggest doing some autocross to get most of it dialed in and get a feel for the limit
