Walboro Whine Issue on Evo VIII
Walboro Whine Issue on Evo VIII
so the evo started making a new noise today, and i've been reading conflicting things.
I put my 255 in the car mid-February, and it whined from the get-go but not all that noticeable.
today, we're seeing the warmest day since I've put it in (80°F) and after my usual commute to school (25-30mi) the pump is s c r e a m i n g [video attached]
some posts say when it's warmer out, this happens and it's completely normal. other peoples wally's whined this loud from the get-go; some not at all, and live in warmer places than I do.
AFR's are fine, no lean spots when cruising or on boost when I was on my way home.
ANY input or help is appreciated, will baby car and stay out of boost until I can properly sort it (class tomorrow but off for a few days afterwards)

I've had two genuine Walbro 460 fail within a week of each other, one where the pressure valve (spring-loaded ball bearing) jammed open, letting most of the fuel out the valve, and a brand new one where the magnets on the motor came off and were pulverise by the impeller. Luckily enough I always test new fuel pumps before installing them because the second one would've destroyed my engine if it had been installed in the car, and I recommend to anyone who will listen that they do the same, test them before you install them. Made a quick video about it which is on my YouTube channel.
