Twin fuel pumps external check valve??

Do you guys use external one way check valves on the fuel line with twin pumps? I have 2x 450's pumps and fuel pressure was dropping very fast after i shut down the car. So I installed 2 vibrant check valves on each pump so fuel was not dropping anymore. After 2 months I decided to change my external fuel filter and I found a lot of aluminum shavings in the filter so I was like what is going on. So I pulled out pumps and I found nothing no shavings in fuel tank or around pumps, so than I removed check valves and I found the problem, check valve on primary pump got damaged inside. The ball that shutting down this valve was wobbling in this housing and eventually damaged that housing ( check valve). Should I just pull them out and throw to the garbage and run with no check valves? Will running no check valve's give me any issues when 2nd pump is turning on, will pumps push pressure against each other? Thanks!

I have been running twin pumps for 3+ years with no check valves and have no issues.

AFR has been consistent and I don't seem to have any issues with them "fighting" each other.

I'd toss both of the valves in the trash and be done with it lol.

Did you have starting issues or something initially that led to the valves in the first place? I see that you said fuel pressure was dropping but were you having actual issues?

Thanks for answer! The reason why I installed check valves because when I shut down the car and when I was watching fuel pressure gauge after 5 minutes of seating it was reading 0 and when I was starting it in the morning I had to crank it longer to have it started. Also I dont want the injectors to seat with no fuel when fuel was going back to tank. I am running e85 and car is not driven every day. I was reading that those walbro 450's pumps are known for internal check valves to leak, and that it is needed to crank the car longer in the morning. But after I saw a lot of aluminum shavings in my filter I dont trust those check valves anymore. Luckily all shavings has been catch by the filter otherwise I would clogged the injectors and probably damage the engine on boost.

Gotcha. Yea, just because there is 0 pressure doesn't mean the injectors would be sitting without fuel, its just that there isn't really pressure in the lines.

I also run E85 and its not an everyday car so I wouldn't worry about it to much. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge or sensor so I can't compare my pressure drop to yours but I'd say that it isn't a big deal.

Yes I did removed the check valves yesterday and I run 2x 6an hoses from pumps to Y block and to 8an line. Will post how is morning starting tomorrow. That's crazy how beat up the check valve housing was inside from that ball bouncing around. I think thats really bad design. Thanks for help!

Ok cool.

Yea, I have my pumps running to a Y then a filter and up to the engine in the stock hard line. I'm only using 2 255s so I didn't do whole lines.

Definitely update on the starting, I haven't noticed long cranks with my setup but it would be interesting to know if you see that.

No probelm!

Ok guys I have an update. I did not notice a lot longer crank in the morning. Maybe a 0.5 second longer but nothing crazy so no check valves for me anymore. I will choose to have slightly longer cranking over aluminum shavings in my filter. Look like vibrant check valves are designed wrong. I see more and more parts in the last couple of years with quality issues
