As of this afternoon I got confirmation from my import broker that I secured the car of my dreams.
Without making a long story too long; I'v been doing research on acceptable oil weights for my climate/region but haven't noticed any patterns. The car has a OE rebuilt engine with 10,000kms on it; and I want to run RedLine 5w-30/10w-30 full syn or Royal Purple 5w-40/10w-40 syn for summer driving only. If anyone has any suggestions of a different weight all together, let me know! Any information would be awesome.
On an engine with stock clearances, it would make most sense to start with what the manufacturer says.
Fully synthetic 10w-30 is the recommended oil for a stock engine, but if your lowest temperatures are below -18C, then a 5W-30 can be used instead. If you modify your engine with different clearances then you would need consider a different oil, but with stock clearances, can't really go wrong taking the manufacturer's recommendations.

Thanks for the info. As dumb as this sounds; I figured this would be the answer. But I overheard someone saying a 10w-40 weight was better for warmer conditions and it made me wonder lol.
Recently in a conversation with a friend, the oil weight topic came up... and he never gave an answer. Instead, he gave information that's much more valuable than engine oil weight numbers alone.... pay attention to your oil pressure. You'll be able to tell if the oil weight in the engine is good based on the oil pressure recommendations from the manufacturer....and this information is universal (in my opinion) across all platforms, not just 4Gs.
For example; if your oil pressure is lower than the recommended range at idle (after warm up, of course) then you KNOW your oil is too think. If said oil pressure is higher than the recommended range, then you KNOW your oil is too thin.... barring everything in the oil system is in good, functional condition.
Thank you so much for answering, I also wanted to know that.
