Need guidance on finishing build

Quick context : I got an 8 shell but with the previous owners build in parts , fresh oem head , fresh oemblock , tomei 2.3L , s2 cams , radium full fuel system with a Walbro 450 . It also came with a foward facing setup .
fast foward 5 years of alor of personal issues that got int the way i decided to get this project done . I scrapped his setup because this is my first Evo and I wanted to experience a “ stocker “ Evo so I can then decide what turbo to go to or if evos are even my jam , I temporarily went Evo 9 turbo w oem manifold ( I know it’s holding the car back but keep reading ) I bought a new setrab oil cooler , new csf slim racing radiator , looking at 1200CCs , technically that’s what I NEEDed to get the car running .
now - I’m tired of waiting in getting a little impatient and I realized I’m trying to build this perfect car when I haven’t even driven this thing once , I want to experience it before I start dropping big money on aftermarket parts . So my concern now is this , do I buy a new intercooler + piping + bov & get it done and just run with stock ecu for now or vice versa stock intercooler stock piping + bov and upgraded ecu.
alor of people tell me don’t even bother get everything it’s an Evo but I am not rich as of right now and my friend literally has a 335 with a broken injector running , I’m not saying I want a junk build but I want it able to be experienced.
this was a yap session but please let me know what the thoughts are , also I do need to take iti to a shop due to the fuel system calibration and getting its first start .

Stock ECU is probably fine, is your fuel pump good for...what injectors? You have a tuner lined up? Yer gonna need one.
If you have all the parts to car, get it running then iron out any bugs that pop up.

Funny enough I joined evom recently to try and sell my hi-z FIC 1200s. Let me know if you want them, really just want them gone since they were too small for my setup. I have a AEM340 you can have also with them. Ran for like 500-ish miles maybe less on E85, been sitting for about a month

Also, stock ecu is fine for what you're going for. Aftermarket ECUs are more so needed for high horsepower builds. The stock ECU tuning has been around long enough for people to make it work very good. You dont need to go crazy so, I'd say just keep it simple. Maybe a turboxs intercooler, injectors, pump and a tune.

I've run the stock ecu on my build and had two aftermarket ecu's (AEM infinity and now a Haltech e2500). The drivability with the aftermarket ecu's is much better, and easier to tune. It also allows you to do things like go DBW, implement failsafes, and expand your sensor package.

I would get the ecu now and upgrade those bolt on parts later.

Get a set of ID1300s, a afpr, haltech 1500 with sensors and thank me later. Fic injectors are junk anymore. My tuner has many cars with bad info on injector data with their stuff and it makes it a ***** to tune. Stock ecu will be ok but do yourself a favor and just buy once cry once that way when you decide to upgrade to a larger turbo since your going to out flow that 9 turbo fast whoever is going to tune your car will be thankful he won't have to put up with stock ecu crap.

Yea it’s cause I don’t have the bolt on parts yet , I rather just buy what my engine is missing first since I can always just get it running . It might not be as good as it running with a aftermarket ecu but a running evo to me is a win

For what you want to do with the car stick with the Stock ECU. Although aftermarket ECUs are superior, you’re not going to be able to get your car past emissions if you’re planning on driving it on the street.
