Time to start my review on @b_m_performance_mn motor build they have done for me since i have been putting it off waiting for things to be made right.. To start i am happy with how the motor looks but highly displeased with any sort of warranty or customer support with the amount of money i have spent, the turn around time was pretty bad, alot of missing parts that i had to tell them never arrived where they could send it,legit took a year from start to finish basically from valve cover to oil pan has been re-done or brand new. Have had issue after issue with motor itself ever since july 2025 when motor was finally put into the vehicle. They did luckily pay to fix a stuck bolt in the cylinder head but obviously did not attempt to make things right with bigger issues like a oil pan leaking, bent trigger wheel that they installed since i wanted a full longblock assembly, and issues with overall compression and leakdown on a 10:5 compression 2.0 build. The compression is low and leakdown is tolerable but unpleasant for the situation, theres also some pics of their "valve job" when i had really high leakdown numbers which has been all over the place since the start of this. I also have signs of piston slap,no noticable oil or coolant disappearing. So this being said if you want no warranty or customer support then go with them🤷♂️ oh and i believe @maperformance does buisness with them to build their engines also. The stuck bolt in the cylinder head, they luckily honored to fix.

Heres the widebody voltex evo Water pump leaking on brand new engine lol Bent trigger wheel. Brand new rebuilt engine They never chimed in what i should do because i had problems. Just went ahead with extended break in. Again wheres the customer support with this so called great shop? Cant warranty a brand new part because you didnt make the part?wtf? Make that make sense. Still never told me if it was covered under warranty LOL After engine installation took to local tuning shop and had em do a once over once they added fluids and would you look at that. Problems which they didnt do anything about Investigating why i have high leakdowm numbers in cylinder 1 vs cylinder 2 valves. Valve lapping looks like crap. The start of waiting for builders response for low compression/leakdown after build. Where is the customer support or where did builder go? Test results april 2026 from local tuning shop. After pushing them for a response for what they are going to do about the motor issues, at this point ive spent quite a bit fixing their mistakes Took 2 months to tell me this, just because you dont have a builder doesnt mean you arent liable anymore, also side note if they dont lap valves then why do my 2 valves look different. Also do they even check their work with testing after?

Reason: Adding more stuff
that sucks man. I've had coolant leaks/headgasket/crank seals/sensor/etc etc issues on 4 builds/installs, built by reputable local shops. theres a lot of incompetence out there. I blame newb techs
Some shops really need to drop their pride and just leave the engine building to real experts. Stick with selling parts/basic services. Engine building should be like how it is in japan. If you pay you need to be guaranteed the best and should something go wrong full coverage no questions. I’m with you OP.
I think the mindset in the US is the "good builder"(short block only) become "CEO shop owner" , starting over and over training new techs while also having less and less time to verify everyone's work. I've lost so much time and money due to redos. One time the shop owner was struggling to tune the car on a rental dyno, they even replaced my old COP. I took it home and discovered it had sparkplugs for a Honda (the denso partnumber had the same 3 characters). I mean come on. another case was when this shop was training a "fabricator" and for some reason decided to make me a flimsy alternator bracket(i think because my new waterpump is for an evo8). this caused me to loose the belt in the middle of the highway. of course the new build overheated before I can park it. I'm almost glad that build spun a #4 after a few autox events
Interesting enough they chimed in after seeing this post. Updated post with screenshot of what they said, guess they seem like they arent liable for anything and a simple couple parts at cost is good enough for them.💀😂
