No compression in cyclinder 2? WTH
No compression in cyclinder 2? WTH
I took my evo 9 to Mitsu today because it was running like ****. They were looking at it for a few hours and they told me the 2nd cyclinder does not have any compression... They told me i might need a new engine.. Is there anyway to fix this with out a new engine?
Forget the compression test. Do a leak down test. That will give you a better idea where the problem is. Maybe it's just some head work that needs to be done. Sucks, but certainly a lot cheaper than a new motor.
I guess I should ask how many miles you have, mods, tune and maintenance. Do you rod the sh*t out of it?
This is a little abstract but my friend is trailering his IX for a complete engine rebuild today. (Well he is probably already there). Why? The previous owner put autolite plugs in, broke and shards chewed up his cylinder. What plugs you got?

Normally absolutely 0 compression has to do with your valves.
A cylinder that still makes compression ~90psi or lower (est.) is a ring or piston issue.
At least from my experience..
A way to fix it without a new engine is to figure out exactly what is wrong.

Well this idiot that fixed my head gasket replaced my timing belt and he timed it wrong, so a few valves hit the pistons and they bent and now he said he fixed it but i guess maybe some of them we're not put in right..
^^yep, definitely gotta take the head off and replace those valves. make sure to take it to a machine shop that way they can reverse leak down and to make sure your head is fully functional.
