No problems for me. I am 6500 miles and bought it 06/15/03. Treat the car right and you'll be fine. Try showing off to the world with riicey driving, and drag racing and you'll quickly regret it. That simple.
Guys, he's askin what problems he needs to look for on the car hes buyin, not the fact that hes gonna wanna drive fast after he buys it. musyc, it seems like the clutch and transfer case are the most well known problems on the evo. Also look for bad tire wear. These both might be signs of really hard driving by the previous owner, which is expected with an evo, but you might wanna just get a new one instead of gettin the cheaper used one and have to foot the bill on expensive replacement parts. Other than that, good luck and happy driving

Another problem I would listen for is a rattling throwout bearing. My car does it on occasion now, its a distinct sound that goes away when you push the clutch in in neutral. Not necessarrily the biggest problem out there but if your'e haggling on an expensive car purchase no better time then before you sign the papers to get stuff fixed, might result in a new clutch setup.
Clutch may be bad if they launced the car a lot and it will cost $1000 to buy an ACT clutch with install. More exspensive clutches will cost you $1500-1900 installed. Not easy to install clutch on an EVO.
