I think the fact that Mitsu has come out with such a statement has GOT to be something to do with message boards like Evom , or at least some members of Evom taking this up with magazines etc.

To come out with a statement like this implies that they are more than a little worried about the how the rumour of Mitsu voding warranties will affect Evo sales.

well, they only denied the fact that there is no automated web search to hunt down racers

"Mitsubishi does not have any automated web search system looking for Lancer Evolutions involved in race events. This is absolutely false."

But it doesn't deny that they do it mannually, meaning that anyone works for Mitsubishi could log on this forum and do a search easily.

Mitsu is being a huge tool. They deserve a huge class action lawsuit becuase they should have had in clear and signed and understood documents the Evo is sold "AS-IS" as in might as well be used.. not with any warranty, becuase it's worth the waranty is worth its weight in Mitsu stock/crap as it stands.

Not trying to be an *** or anything but them getting paid more for warranty is wrong. As an auto tech warranty pay is significantly less than customer pay(depending on job). Check any labor manual usually factory time or warranty time is in paranthesis and customer pay is next to it.

When I worked for a GM dealer only good things about warranty was you get paid to check anything where you couldn't always charge the customer for it and a warranty(first) oil change through GM paid 1.0hrs and dropped to 0.7hrs where customer pay is 0.3hrs. Engine work, steering, suspension, hvac, etc. all sucked compared to customer pay.

Maybe its just me but they imply that Subaru is more restrictive, " Mitsubishi clearly states in its Owner's Warranty and Maintenance booklet that problems or failures related to racing, alteration and/or vehicle modifications are not covered conditions. This policy is standard throughout the automotive industry, and is even less restrictive than some manufacturer warranties, such as BMW and Subaru, that prohibit operating a vehicle in any type of competitive event." Most people dont race their EVO's right? (At least not on the track) What about getting the warranty voided for doing mods? I've done all kinds of things to my wifes Civic and the Honda dealer never said anything.
