Awesome, I love jealous people!

Everyone who knows me knows i'm ridiculously **** about my car and whenever I go somewhere, I park miles from any form of life or civilization . Last night, it back fired on me.

Me and my girlfriend went to Ruby Tuesdays to eat dinner and we went looking around the mall. Like usual, I parked my car WAAAAYY in the back with no other cars within a good 10-15 spaces. At this point, my girlfriend is *****ing like usual about how far I park away from anything, how stupid i am for parking so far, how "nobody is going to touch your stupid car", "there's so many other nicer cars", all of that bull, same old same old. She doesn't seem to realize that this car is an attention hog and everyone with an ounce of jealousy will take notice to it. So we continued to Ruby. All good, right? Nope.

I come out to my car to see a nice 1.25" to-the-metal key gash with another one right next to it with TONS of cars parked around mine. Boy, did she eat her words. Called mall security, they did absolutely nothing. Called the police and filed a report. Cop said he wasn't filling out an accident report, but rather a vandalism incident report or something. He got in the car and left after he took down my info. He didn't say anything other than that, so i'm guessing I have to go to the station and pick it up.

Needless to say, i'm pretty pissed. It's straight down to the metal and very rough.. looks like it's dinged up from the pressing of the key also. Great.

I took it home and thank god I had touchup paint laying around from when I scratched my bumper. I put a coat of paint on and let it sit overnight. Just got done with another coat so i'm waiting for that to dry then put a clear coat on it.

I think I know how/why it happened this time rather than any other time. Parking near the back IS a good idea and most of the time WORKS. Although it was different this time as the lot near Ruby Tuesdays is smaller and fills up quicker. Pretty easy for any ******* to just scratch it up when theres tons of cars parked near me towards the back of the lot. I guess my luck just back fired on me thjis time. Never had a problem parking in the lot before, and I have absolutely zero problems with any people at all. Jealous people **** me the **** off. This is by far the most immature garbage i've ever had to deal with. I've never had an issue like any of this.

Now for the questions. I put touch up paint on it as thick as I could. It hasn't rained yet and it won't for a few days. Will this still oxidize and rust even with touchup paint? I'm going to get it professionally fixed as soon as the report comes from the police station, or should I make the insurance claim now before I have the report? I've never had to deal with vandalism before, so i'm all new to this.

I've heard some horror stories like this before and this is cliche, but I never thought it would happen to me. If I ever find out who did this... lord help me. I'll be in prison for a long time .

I took some before pics of the touchup paint and some after for insurance, I'll post them later tonight when I get back on my own computer.

Shane

Sorry about your incident. I think in general people are stupid. Anyway, when I park my car anywhere, I usually try to find a spot where there are other better cars. I rarely try to park away from all the cars because I feel that it is telling others that I am trying very hard to not get my car vandalized so the more they know this, the more likely some stupid people will vandalize it. Anyways, that's just my opinion. Anyways, I hope you get things fixed.

Best way to touch up paint

Shane the best way to apply touch up paint is a method I learned at the New York Auto show. The technique is to put paint back into the car.

1)Apply your touch up paint to the scratch and dont be afraid to overspray.
2)Apply masking tape to the scratch (this is the thing that will put it back into the scratch.)
3)Let it dry
4)Remove the tape
5) Buff out the excess with a very mild buffing compound.

Good luck!!

Deceit,

I am sorry about your car. I have always thought a lot like Alias, that parking far away actually seems to "taunt" people into screwing with your car. Just my opinion. When I get my MR, I am going to have to figure out a way to eat dinner at Rubys with the waitress serving me while sitting in my car I guess

Thanks!

Since Mitsu uses that stupid touchup paint pen, I just colored all over it and didn't even think to mask it off. It doesn't look too great, but it needs to be repainted anyways. It's pretty deep

I forgot to add, it's on the rear quarter panel on the driver's side over the wheel. Hopefully it's not too expensive

Honestly parking away from everything is a good idea. I just didn't anticipate the lot filling so damn quick. Then again, a lot of high school graduations were that night as well. Go figure.

It's a damn shame when you have to be so careful about your car and taking it places and you don't even feel safe leaving it alone.

Unfortunately keying the bondo ricer car would just remove material from their car reducing unsprung weight making the ricer actually fastar! They win both ways

i always park like 6-8 spots away from other cars that are out in the boonies, if you are wayyyyy out their on your own, your car will get even more attention. Or ill park closer if their are nice new lux. cars to my left and right (if i need to get in and back out quickly) in colorado chips, scratchs, etc. are unstoppable with the gravel they use on the roads, and the flying gravel during the winter months so im pretty used to it... hope you are able to get all that taken care of.
