EVO VIII Security features?
mine was attempted to be stolen in small area of Lansing, Michigan! They couldn't get the car started due to the immoblizer. They caused about 1200$ in damages, and the insurance is covering all of it, although they stole nothing from my car...
People suck, leave my EVO alone!

I just got a kill switch installed with a button code. If you don't enter the code the car dies and locks you inside. Too bad when I first got it I was locked in my car for 15 minutes trying to disengage the damn thing.
You can also get a battery or ignition disconnect switch installed. They usually come with a key that needs to be inserted to start the car. There are many options, cheapest would probly be a Sparco steering wheel that you can just take off when you park the car. It would be hard to steal when you can't steer. Unless of course they use a tow truck, but if that's the case, no alarm or disconnect will help you.
Well I got the GAP insurance which is what covers the other 30% of the value of the car so if my car DOES get stolen/wrecked I get the full amount up to 5 years. I paid $395 for 5 year GAP insurance from my credit union. What alarms do you guys have? Also where did you guys install the light for the alarm? I'd like it blinking somewhere on the dash but I don't want to ruin anything... but I want the theives to see that it's armed.

I went for the Gap insurance on my car as well. I also use a lock that goes around the brake pedal. Bottom line is if someone really wants my car they will probably get it,im just trying to keep the amatuers at bay.
I have an alarm and I use the autolock if I have to park my car outside for a prolonged period of time.
So here are the 3 lines of defense the would-be thieves will have to go through to steal my car:
1) alarm w/ starter kill
2) autolock on the clutch pedal
3) engine immobilizer
If a thief will go through all that trouble to steal my ride, they're most likely professionals and really want my car bad. I don't have any crazy mods, so I doubt they'd come after my car.

what security features? lol Dude if someone really wants your car, it's gone. i don't care what alarm you have installed! I like the Sparco steering wheel thing. But I think the Sparco steering wheel be removed would just **** a would-be thief off. He may just break your windows and key your car just to be an ***, cause he wanted to steal you car but couldn't!
Not when you have this!

I really dont understand why the dealership didnt explain to you guys the security features in your cars. A couple of people already hit the key point here. NO ONE is taking an Evo anywhere due to the immobilizer. Unless the theif has someone working for mitsubishi who can get them a programmed copy of your key or one of those fancy code hopping boxes from Gone in 60 sec, they arent taking the evo. I would just cover the vin on your dash with a card or something and that rules out the first possibility. An evo without an immobilizer is nothing more than an integra type-r, NOT YOURS ANYMORE. Those DEI alarms with the 2-way pagers are great........really really great.

Truth is the immobilizers don't always cut it. The real car thiefs know how to get around this stuff. Some one had to figure out how to secure the car and someone can figure how to unsecure it.
