Badevo, please calm down the attitude.

Each insurance company uses it's own set of criteria to judge whether a car is totalled or not. These same companies sometimes use different criteria in the different states in which they operate. Companies also change their technique on how they judge totalled cars from time to time.

But a good rule of thumb is that if the roof is buckled, the car will be totalled. Or if the initial repair estimate exceeds 70% of the value of the car, the car will likely be totalled. This is due to the fact that the initial estimate of repairs is usually a good 20-30% less than the actual cost to repair the car.

Aaron. I think your car will be totalled. But it is hard to tell for sure until we see pics inside the engine bay.

Sure, if the airbags are deployed, they must be added to the cost of the rplacement parts, but still, the cost of parts, labor and miscellaneous must exceed a certain cost that will result in a higher cost to the ins. co. to pay than to replace the vehicle (which by the way, they determine the cost).
Asking the people in this forum for their opinion is fine but totally useless for any purpose other than recreational. Nobody can determine wether the car is totalled or not from looking at a couple of photographs.. BTW, it sure as hell does not look totalled to me....
well, but my way is easier.

You kidding me? Wow that's insane, but I guess what he was talking about only applies in Texas. Not sure about other states for that matter.

I'd be surprised if they didn't total it out.

But then again, I got lucky I presume.

I am sorry to see these pics as they are painful. I got into many accidents before back home and they were nasty and big to the point that the car was like a banana. YES your car is totaled in fact you want it to be. Once a car gets into an accident nothing comes back the way it was. Paint wont match and many sounds and handling issues might rise up. Sorry to hear about your evo but look at it from the bright side save your money, your turbo kit and get an MR

I dont think it is... as long as the frame didnt get screwed.. all you need now is a carbon fiber hood, gialla bumper, stock fender, headlighst and a nice aftermarket intercooler.

Why get a Nissan? You'll end up with a slower car with less potential, the interior won't be much better than the Evo, and that Nissan will get totalled just as easily as your Evo.

Thats not entirely true insurance company's do whatever is cheaper for them. If they can fix it for way less than the value of the car they will in a heartbeat but if it looks like its going to be equal or more expensive they will total it. They are in business to make money so money will ultimately determine their choice.

If you have damage that totals 80% of the total value of your car, then it is totaled. However, I had a couple bad wrecks like this in my Type-R and neither time did the car get total. In order for your car to be totaled it has to be damn well near irreparable. From the looks of your photos I think you can get your car fixed.

It can be fixed no problems. However, our EVOs are dam expensive to fix. Parts are expensive it's not a camry or a honda. IC alone will cost$$$ . most true sports cars are very expensive to fix. I am sure they will totaled it. by the way nesta what Nissan are you thinking about?

If they didnt do this what do you think will happen to your premiums ? THEY WOULD SKYROCKET.

This doesnt allways happen. I have seen instances where insurance payments to fix damage EXCEED the FULL value of the car.

Most Insurance companies LOOSE money of premiums. Basically for every $1.00 they take in on premiums they pay out on average $1.05. Their are a select few companies that make money on premiums but they far and few between.

To make money insurance companies invest their premiums.

Ask your insurance (or his) about salvaging it. A long time ago I was able to salvage a Eclipse from my insurance after it was totaled. I had to wait about 6 weeks and pay a huge towing / storage bill but I got it.
