POLL: is my evo totaled?
Here are the pics a van pulled out in front of me, not yeilding, so my question is to you do you think its totaled?
total parts excluding the airbag is 3900 from mitsubishi. tires are fine, engine looks fine didn't leak any oil, only radiator fluid.
KBB FAIR price, even though there were no flaws on the car with 21k miles, is 19,465 making the 65% rule set at about 12,652.25 worth of damage.
Autotrader has 2 of them within 200 miles, one with 23k miles, for 24909 with 65% would be 16190
And then the other one is 26000, with 16,600 miles on it, so 65% would be 16,900
so the average would be 25454.50 and 65% is $16545
does this car have 16 grand in damage?

Body panels don't mean a whole lot, but if there's extensive engine, drivetrain damage and/or frame damage it'll be totalled, kind of hard to tell from pics, have a professional examine it, then you'll know.
looks almost like my car after my accident. Looks like you need a new intercooler, maybe a radatior, headlight (1500 alone) hood, bumper, quarter panel.
I would say no this car does not have 16k worth of damage. maybe 8-10 depending on who you allow to rape you on the repairs.

i got quoted 980 for entire headlight assembly ....thats with my 20% off, so was your totaled? i've never been in a real accident before, i mean i've been "dinged" before but not in an accident?
I think its 75% to total the car, at least thats been my experience.
It looks ugly, but from what I can see from the pic there is not much unitbody damage. I dont think this would be a total. (the wheel is still pointed in somwhat the right direction)
I'm assuming that you want the car totaled. Try jumping up and down and making an *** of yourself to the other guy's insurance, they might figure it would be easier/cheaper to buy out the car. This is also assuming that the van had enough liability insurance to cover the car. Minimums in my state wont even come close to paying for an EVO.

actually i don't want it totaled, i have alot of time and effort in it, even though the car is "worthless" cash wise, its not worthless to me... if you know what i mean
Check area at frame rail to firewall, if anything looks wierd there total it ASAP, you don;t want it at all, POS and will never be correct again.
If the rail has not moved at the firewall, it's easy and should not cost $16k to fix.
If they want to fix it, find the best bodyshop you can.
