Tho my wife still misses the sleeker lines of my old Celica
why in the heck are we talking about trading and EVO for a celica. They are not even comparable to an EVO. If someone wants looks, then go get the kit with the aero package but you'll be seing my rear end after your girl blows me a kiss. Still dig ya though.
Hey is anyone in here think that it is possible for the new 276hp Mazda 6 which due out later next year ( the one that come with twin-turbo and 4WD ) could run with or outrun the Evo. Many friends of mine can't decide if they should buy the Evo or wait for the Mazda 6. I told them to go for the Evo, since the car have a long history of proven racing technology in it.
Also, what do you think about the Skyline that will be in U.S. in 2007 which be also be twin-turbo.
P.S. Enought about the Celica....

what i had heard is that the US will have no more Lancer Evos but as for Asia and Europe, the production may still continue. Though there are rumors here that the LAncer Evo 8 would be the last of the Lancer Evos, what we are seeing now here are Pajero Evolutions. Iv seen lots of them in the streets of Manila. With regards to the Lancer, we may still be a recipient of upcoming Lancer Evo series.
The new Mazda will be a heavy car and without a heritage it wouldn't be my first choice. The EVO is proven, if after driving/riding in your EVO and they still can't decided I don't know how they think the new Mazda6/Skyline will be all that much better.
well to be honest, we had tested a USDM evo 8 and we were quite disappointed as compared to the Evos 5 to 7. the us 8 is 70kg heavier to match the body to weight ratio needed to comply with US laws. i had tested though a japan evo 8 rs (with 6-speed super close ratio transmission) and an rx8. based on my opinion, the evo was way far better in performance. iunno with the 6.

I don't think the U.S. Evo is that bad, I own one. Consider the U.S.'s strick (and B.S. ) laws, I think Mitsubishi did a good job in transforming it. There's not much different in the power, the main differents are just the 6-speed gear box, AYC, and ACD. Beside, I heard lots of story from Evo owners (Europe and Japan) saying that the AYC and ACD are high-maintainace items. Plus, it not unusual for those part to fail when the car is being push to the limit.
U.S. Evo still performs really good without these parts

Toyota can't afford to put any money into a fast street car, they are chasing Ferrari in Formula 1. So while they develop Camry's for us to buy, they develop 100s of millions of dollars worth of incredible awesome engines and chassis for a handful of folks to play with.
