Handling.. Difference between an RS, Regular and ACD/AYC
Ok. I see all these awsome vids of our cars doing drifts at 100mph (Top Gear), snow ****, handbrake turns, donuts etc.. On the track I hear the RS is the best application though it doesnt have AYC/ACD stuff. Now our cars are great too on the track but the C&D review said the RS LSD just gave it a little better turn in, but the difference was not that noticeable. Now the Euro and MR with the AYC/ACD have the cheater mod to really help handleing but can one drive a regular US Evo set-up properly to compete with those electronic systems.
I think the front LSD on the RS is more noticable than most people give it credit for. I don't make it a practice of driving other people's cars to the limit, but I certainly don't think mine understeers as much as the GSR.
Also, it is my belief that pulling the handbrake while in motion will do very, very bad things to the transmission. Can anybody back this up? Supposedly the ACD system disengages the rear drive system when the handbrake is pulled.

that is why you disengage the transmission from the engine when you pull the handbrake... NEVER pull the handbrake with the clutch pedal out, your awd will try to stop the engine... and it will win... either that... or something in between will lose.
I think in our US models, Even if you pull the handbrake with the clutch in, it will still screw up your car with the awd. I notice on dirt roads my regular US evo squirms to the right or to the left, its as if the front doesnt pull forward evenly, leaves me uncertain if my rear end will just come out.. I wonder if the mock LSD fix from TurboTrix will fix this esp in drag application vehicles...

Well regardless of all this, I wanna know if im on an open airfield if i can throw my car into a slight drift at 100mph, not that i would do it, but would i have similar handling results as a vehichle with the AYC/ACD.. who am i kidding.. the reason i question this, is becuase its told that the RS is the best track application, and that has no AYC/ACD... IOW if i were to race a Euro 5sp ACD/AYC Evo on a track vs a US Evo Rs what would the end result be if all other constants (driver, performance etc..) remained equal..

I don't know if they've changed the ACD any on its way here to the US, but the previous ACD in Evo7/8 disengaged the drivetrain when you pulled it, so you could use the ebrake to do whatever stunts/turns you wanted.
you car shoudln't pull evenly on dirt... the front diff at full spins is an open diff. i know it's clutch type but i've seen a video where a guy is in a parking lot "burning out" nad doing donuts and he has his inside wheel lighting up like a jackass.
