Customizations that don't jeopardise warranty

What customization or modification can you think of that will not risk getting the warranty voided?

My thoughts:
  • New radio/head unit
  • Regular speakers, not subs/amps
  • Window tints
  • Debadging

BOV voides the warrenty...not sure if you change to the MR BOV...will let you know. New air intakes don't void it either as long as their CARB certifyed...

BOV is a waste of money...

exhaust would be safe if you keep the cat...

hbruce: intake is not a warranty-safe mod... if it is carb certified, you wont get in trouble with the cops, but dealerships can still deny warranty for two reasons; 1.) they will no longer service air cleaner component (you have to change/wash your own filter)
2.) if the engine ever hydrolock, they will point straight to the open air filter element and blame it on that

i've read that exhaust even with the cat will void warranty. does it depend on the dealer?

as long as the it has the factory cat, its hard for the dealerships to blame anything on just an aftermarket exhaust system, and therefore, caback exhausts are generally a safe mod

i asked my local dealer when i purchased the car if i could get away with exhaust and intake
he said anything that wouldnt give me serious increase in HP would be fine and that most warranty voiding they have had to do involved powertrain because of clutch upgrades.

but from what ive read the only thing id even consider leaving on the car is my exhaust if i ever took it back to them.

ive even gone through the trouble of getting replacments of any clamps/bolts/screws that ive done any wear to.

Stickers = paint warranty issues

Antenna should be okay.

Exhaust = definite powertrain warranty issues. Less backpressure = lean. Definitely will have issues if you swap out the cat. Swapping out a normally functioning cat is also illegal. Federal law.

BOV = definite powertrain warranty issues

Wheels = should be okay, unless it created clearance problems or something

Interior trim = should be okay if it's not mechanical or electrical

Seats = I believe it shouldn't be a problem. You may have safety issues though.

Intake = powertrain warranty issues.

Gauges = depends. If you get a boost/vacuum leak, your warranty will have issues.

And again it really depends on the dealer, but I'm trying to cut down to the lowest common denominator.
