Just a question, why do you have to pull out the fuel rail? Can't you just pull out each injector at a time leaving the fuel rail in place? I've never done an injector swap on an EVO, but I did it all the time on my 300zxTT and there was no need to pull the rail, just the injectors. Please enlighten me. Thanks

the fuel rain holds the injectors in to the intake manifold .... so you have to take it out to get them in and out

Ahhh I see. So the fuel rail goes over the injectors and sandwhiches them to the manifold? Ok I understand now. In my 300zxTT there were 2 bolts on both sides of each injector that had to be unscrewed then out went the injector. Thanks for the learnings...

One more piece of advice: Where safety glasses! Even if you bleed all the pressure out of the line before you pull the injectors, you can still create negative hydraulic pressure when you pull the injectors out, which can cause a bit of spray that will inevitably go straight in your eye...

I'm installing PTE 780 injectors. After pulling out the stockers, I've noticed that the stock injectors have one more rubber washer, but the PTE injectors are longer. Do I:

1. Not use the stock rubber washer, keep injector length the same?
2. Use the stock rubber washer on the PTE, but make it longer than stock?

see pic for clarification - thanks!

Ok, I just did this. I feel there are way too many steps being taken here. You really only need to remove 2 bolts. There is almost no pressure in the fuel lines

Step 1: Remove clips and unplug the injectors.

Step 2: Unbolt the fuel rail (2 bolts).

Step 3: Lift rail and injectors away from intake manifold and swap in new ones.

Now reverse.

WOW what a PITA getting the injectors off...

So I too replaced mine with 1200's and they don't seem as tight as I would have expected. How does one test that the injectors won't leak fuel or air ? Thanks!

Damn, I just installed my 1000cc PTE injectors and where the injector goes into the fuel rail, the tabs that keep the injector from spinning..... Those tabs hit the plug so I cannot plug the wiring harness into the injectors. Anyone know what I should do? I am stuck at work with an Evo that is dead unless I figure something out!!!!

I was able to swap injectors with no issue and went to plug them in and then noticed the plug hit. Should I have taken to fat rubber seal off the OEM injector where it plugs in the fuel rail? If so, that might space it enough, or, I could trim the wiring harness plug

OK, put injectors in and used the fat OEM rubber spacer that slips over the end of the injector where it plugs into the fuel rail. Without it, once everything is tightened down, the wiring harness won't plug into the injector. I figured if this part was needed that it would have been included with the injector. I am surprised no one else had this issue.
