Question Do I have boost leak? #'s given

Ok, not sure if I have a boost leak...

here's results of my test b/c I have

1. My car is stock.
2. 2nd gear: 16 psi
3. 3rd gear: 17.4 psi
4. 4th gear: 19 psi peak, drop off to 17 psi.

So, do I have a leak?

if so, how what should it look like 2nd tru 4th stock?

No leak - maybe. First, all of our cars come with boost taper, meaning it wont hold 19.5psi to redline. Get a Halman MBC - $90 or so shipped to fix this. Secondly, many of our stock BOV's leak - mine does and I haven't bought the MR BOV yet. Other things can leak, but these are the most common. You should be able to hold all except 1.5psi of your peak boost til redline.

as stated above... that is how your ecu is programmed... you will peak ~19=20 psi and then taper to 17... sometimes depending on your car, the boost will taper furthur. you should start to taper @ ~5700-6000... 7000 rpm will be ~ 16 psi.... completely normal for a stock car... once again as stated a boost controller will prevent such a large taper...

I believe 20.9 is stock boost for an IX. (something like that). If your not hitting that, you have something wrong, best to do a boost leak check.

Check out Cobbs website. They have a good tech article for sourcing boost leaks.
