This is a great thread. Thanks for the info.
One question: the DSM bov kits are mentioned a few times here. Will any BOV that has the kit for a 2g DSM fit the Evo recirc location? So, could I get an Apex 2g DSM bov and use it in the Evo? Thanks for the info to anyone who can help.

not sure if any other 2g DSM kit will work

Technically the DSM kit of the HKS SSQV BOV did not work (perfectly). I was able to use the parts that came with it to make it work: After putting the recirc. fitting in I found it to be much smaller than the hole in the intake tube before the turbo. I used the hose supplied with the DSM kit and cut a rubber fitting to go on top of the BOV recirc fitting to make it work. Other than that everything else fit very well.

The BOV itself is a little bigger than the stock diverter valve, it just fits. I cannot speak to other manufacturers since theirs may be smaller or larger. Larger BOVs will not fit in the stock location. So be careful about getting the race version of the SSQV and the like...

I installed mine too, any thoughts as to heat problems? I am concerned with it being so hot after driving. Is this any sort of problem? I wonder where most people place theirs, Mine is on the right side of the radiator hose and its still very hot.

I was just wondering, how exactly do you get your BOV to VTA while parked? Will a dual stage (one that vents to atmosphere and recirc) do this aswell? and is there a certain way it must be hooked up to do this?

I own a 93 lancer gsr, and was trying to get mine to do this.

um, I've never tried to get the BOV to vent while parked. But you probably can rev to 4-5kRPM and hold it there until boost builds up, which might be hard to do since spool up will tend to rev the engine faster making you let off the gas a bit to keep the revs at 4-5kRPM.

it's only easy to do at a stand-still if you have launch control... got AEM?

The HKS SSQV is always working even under non-boost. Under slow acceleration that's why we hear the fluttering between gear shifts.

I'm not familiar with any HKS BOV that does both VTA and recirc. I'm curious why you'd do both.

Ive heard of some BOV that send part of the VTA air back to the intake. I believe their logic is that by-passing some of the VTA air back to the intake might help alleviate the momentary richness associated with VTA BOV's. With EIDS, I dont think that is really necessary.

Its also good so that i can drive past cops etc, without the sound of the blowoff untill i reach high boost. Also good for a sleeper effect, and then you get up the car and the look at you wierd. Especially when people round here don't know GSR's
