Here's the red color caps at Pepboys.com:

They have other colors as well.

sick, how did you change your cig lighter/gear bulbs?
I know on the manuals you just lift the center console up and the light is right next to the cig lighter, twist and pull out. Don't know about the auto shifter lights though.

Also ExoByte these are half the price as the ones at pepboyz, don't know why they jacked up the price so much.

unscrew 2 screws inside armrest, pull that out. unscrew 2 screws under shifter and unclip that little harness and the clips by passengers feet and drivers feet, pull center console out. now take out the bulb of the cig lighter, it just has a blue condom, and the auto shifter is a large white light, and the letters themselves are colored blue. if that makes no sense, sorry

I did the red light conversion. I decided to go full out and change all the buttons and the ignition key light. It would not look good if the other buttons were left blue.

I left the radio LCD blue, it really does not look that bad in my opinion.

Also, to get to the cigarette lighter, I did not need to remove the center arm rest and consle. I just popped up the top cover trim (after unscrewing the shift knob) and you can easily get to the bulb from the passengers side.

I did the ash tray red as well, but I will revert to white as you can't see anything in there when it is red.

For those that are wondering, I used model paint. I could not find any red condoms. I did 2 coats, 1 coat was a bit too pinkish.

Sorry, I do not have any before pics, but you can always hop into your car to see...

People keep on PMing me asking how to change the color of the buttons the ignition circle.

Well, its not hard. Just take out the bulb and do the same thing you did to the climate controls.

I don't really remember the steps I took as it was such an easy job that I just used common sense. I didn't even have a manual.

Basically, it is something like this (I may make mistakes, as I don't remember 100%)

REMOVING SWITCHES:

Light adjuster and dimmer:
1. pry the plastic cover off that holds the 2 buttons.
2. disconnect switches
3. remove swtich from the plastic square that holds them

Fog Light & ignition circle:
1. undo 2 screws that hold plastic gauge cluster trim in place and remove gauge cluster trim.
2. pull off the left dash trim piece that holds the fog light switch
3. disconnect fog light and mirror adjuster
4. take out fog light switch from plastic dash trim
5. undo the 3 screws for steering column cover (bottom of steering column)
6. lift up the steering column cover top
7. remove the bottom steering cover (you may need to play with your height adjuster and move the wheel up and down.
8. Locate light bulb holder in switch
9. rotate 1/4 turn to undo it from assembly
10. Take pliers and hold the bulb holder with them, and with other hand, pull slightly the entire circle assembly away from the steering column and try to take out the bulb assembly (you'll see what I mean). It is a tight fit, but it can be done. Don't break anything!!

Water Sprayer:
1. pry up water sprayer switch
2. disconnect wires

GETTING AT BULBS IN SWITCH

Fog light and height adjuster:
1. simply take a flat head screwdriver, turn 1/4 turn and take out the bulb from the switch. Its that black circle looking thing.

Light dimmer and Sprayer Switch
1. Locate the tabs that hold the switch together.
2. Pry small screw drivers near the tabs and work and pull switch apart.
3. The blubs are then easily located.

Now remove the blue condoms and put new ones on or paint the bulbs or whatever your method is.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Hey, is it my imagination or does your speedo/tach illuminate differently from stock (I have an evo 8). Also, do you think that there is a way to get more light in the dash (speedo and tach area), my eyes are killing me at night.

Thanks!

i have a lancer oz rally, and the speedo/tach is stock. there must be different gauges in the evo. also, i have seen people put led's in their gauge area that brightens everything up, or you could probably take it apart and put brighter, or different color led's back there.

BTW, Pep Boys has free shipping, so it's actually cheaper than Summit Racing.
