i am having an issue with my gas door. it doesnt seem to want to "pop" open anymore. i pulled out the assembly and made sure the cable was attached securely and tight enough that when i lift the gas lever, the door latch goes in completely to allow the door to release. it does but the door just stays closed. is there something in the gas door itself, like a spring in the hinge that forces it open? i dont recall ever feeling any resistance in the door when it was working. god i hate these pop gas doors. i have the same exact problem in my rx7 and but have been too lazy to resolve.

open the gas door....look behind teh hinge.....you should see a black peice of metal bent like a "W"...this is what 'pops' the door open when you pull on the release inside your car. See if this peice is still attached....I will take a pic to show you....give me a sec....

more then likely you broke that "W" peice

 

mabe its the way you pop them if this is happening on both of your cars....lol jk damn its a ix go for warrenty work...best way to go...
