How to replace front o2 sensor

My ecu is throwing a code for the front o2 sensor, it needs to be replaced. Is there a write up anywhere on how to replace this sensor? I did a search with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

invest in a good 6 or 12 point O2 sensor socket, that has a 3/8" receiver for a ratchet. we usually just pull it out from underneath with the splashgaurd off...

here is an example of the tool...

also, we usually put a piece of cardboard over the radiator whenever im using tools around the radiator.

So nothing really has to be removed to replace this sensor and it can be accessed from underneath?

I can reach it from the top, but still a pain. Unplug the O2 harness, it's right in the valve cover at the top, and unthread the O2 sensor. If it's OEM then you're ready to plug and play. If it's generic, then you have to splice the wires.

Remember, when you put it in, most O2 sensors have antiseize already put on the threads, if not, put some on. DO NOT get it on the actual sensor tip though, or you may damage it.

Otherwise, just plug and play and you're off. It's just mostly a pain to get that thing out with the angle. Get a tool, autozone lets you buy it for $20 or so, and you can return it for free.

I am going to be using a sensor ffrom www.oxygensensors.com so i think it should be plug and play. I just wanted to know if it is reachable without pulling anything out of the engine bay.

I never thought of the cardboard over the radiator. That is a really good idea! I almost put a hole in it last night putting on a new o2 housing. You push so hard that when the nut breaks loose it just happens. You da man!
