My Battery relocation and trunk net [pics]
So I got bored and decided to relocate some batteries to the center of the trunk rather than one of the sides. Symmetry gets me off.
I welded a small battery bracket and drilled into the sheetmetal.
Cut the cardboard trunk base and mat.
Ran the positive cable (0 gauge) through the car, under the driver seat and up into the engine bay.
Ran 3 ground wires in the trunk (4 gauge)(i may run some more later)
Then fashioned a trunk net to hold random car supplies without knocking around the trunk.
It's chevy orange

why so many grounds? Is that necessary? I'm relocating mine this weekend, to that exact spot, but I went with a battery box.
How'd you get out of the interior cabin and into the engine bay (where'd you make your penetration)? I've got a major power wire (-1 I think) for the amps running through the door hinge grommet on the driver side already, I was thinking of taking it through the passenger side for the relocated battery.

I popped them out, drilled out a hole for the wire and replaced them. I used the one that sits on the inner side of the frame rail by the brake lines. Ran them along the brake lines and up into the engine bay.
The more grounds the better.

not yet, the install should happen this weekend. I think I'll look for the grommets you used though, sounds alot easier. I went with a black plastic box, not very fancy but functional. Plus, for some reason I have this fear of the battery coming loose and trying to ground out on a metal box. Wierd.
It has to be "approved" ? I can make my own sheetmetal battery box instead of paying $150 for one. But it won't be "approved" ?
