spring install question

do you really need torque wrench? I know you dont need spring compressor(but will be pita to install) but what about torque wrench?
not having torque wrench is keeping me from installing it this weekend.

well.. the reason you would use a torque wrench is to torque it down to the proper factory spec... i mean.. you could do it without a torque wrench if you felt comfortable tightening bolts by just feeling when they are tight enough... but its best for you to use a torque wrench... home depot sells a husky torque wrench for like 50 i think... make sure you get a 1/2 as you can use it for wheels and etc...

I never used a torque wrench, as long as you have sockets you should be fine, the torque wrence is just to torque the bolts back, its a plus but not a necessity. I advise a spring compressor

i got it done with an impact gun and couple of hand tools.. but just hand tools, very dangerous!!!!!!! get a spring compressor

ya dont need a spring compressor if you have a 2nd person. Advanced auto rents them for free or sells them for $35 last i checked.


They also sell torque wrenchs for $30, i highly reccomend picking one up, everythign is torqued to a certain amount for a reason, especially the top of the strut bolts.

i did mine by myself and i'm not the strongest person let me tell you lol. trq mine to 45 lbs cause i didnt know what to trq it too, but it seemsed like it was startint to spin the strut so i stoped

it has a spot on the base for the spring so you cant get them mixed up. so basically it will only go in there one way.
