Not sure, but for $20 (shipped) more you could get AbWombat's own specifically made for the evo:

Hi bishiboy,

That is one hell piece of work u got there!!! BRAVO!!

OK, my Q - there seems to be 2 schools of thought in this grounding...

1) run separate cables from these 6 points back to the -ve terminal, ie 'parallel' connection (longer wire required)

2) connect these points on a 'series' connection (shorter wire
required) "Less is more??"

Any difference??

Thanks

I built one for the equivalent of US$20.

Its well worth it :

* smoother idle!
* Voltages are up from 13.4 to 13.8 Volts across the board.
* Engine feels smoother and pulls a little harder in the rev-band.
* A/C does not suck as much life out of the car esp. when driving on vacuum.
* I notice it pulls out of intersections easier with my usual compliment of 3 passengers.

A worthwile mod.

I can't believe this thread is so big.
I have since replaced my battery with an Odyssey 680 dry cell which I placed under my passenger seat. I hooked it up to my hyper ground. I push 14.4 to 14.8 volts. I'll shrink my pics down tomorrow and post them.

I did not use the bolt on the back of the head as it was too hard to get to, Instead I bolted it on to the rear engine hoist, which is itself connected to the head. I did not ground the tranny.

I would suggest grounding to the tranny. I didn't at first either but then changed it and noticed a difference. It could have been all mental, but thought I would just throw that in.

Even though I don't have an Evo, I installed one of these on my Lancer. I notice smoother idle and a little better pull from like 1k-2k when starting from a stop. I also notice that I get this weird electric sounding "whine" from like 3500-4500, and then it either goes away or the engine drowns it out. Anybody else get this or have any suggestions? It's not really annoying, just weird. It sounds like a little wind up toy. I used 4ga and followed bishiboy's grounding points.

Edit: It is coming from the engine bay (not the radio or speakers) and it is only when the car is in gear, not just sitting in neutral and revving.

What's the difference on grounding the tranny between an automatic and a manual? Is it advisable for an automatic?
