Stock bolt question Help

Where the downpipe connects to the 02 housing, there is a spring that covers each bolt. Are these SPRINGS important??? I just bought the EPM 02 dump, and im going to be installing it tomorrow, but need to know If I need to reuse the springs, or just screw in the bolts without the springs.

Please help guys, because I have had an exhaust leak there, and want to fix it, but then again I didnt use a gasket there so maybe that is the source of the problem.

P.S. If I do need the springs, where can I get one of them? I only have one since thecar oly had one on there when I bought it.

Thanks gentleman!

Chris

my advice is do what i did... i went to the hardware store, bought shorter bolts and said forget the springs for the dump.. if you have the right size, you can get a good bite on the downpipe and it will secure the o2 housing to the downpipe... i also do NOT run the springs.

hope this helps

thanks man. What I guessI could also do is justtighten the bolts they give me down alot, since the bolts are threaded all teh way down the bolt.

it wont work... the bolts provided (unless changed) are too long and will collide with the o2 housing section of the dump... i recommend you take the bolts to a hardware store, the the thread picthch, and just take a real good look at how long you think the bolts need to be

best thing i can tell you is take the whole exhaust manifold, turbo, and unbolt the downpipe. and take your radiator out and work on it with the setup outside of the car... it makes things a SH** load easier... but if youre going to keep it on the car, its a little tricky... i have sausage fingers, so i had a buddy of mine with toothbrush fingers help me out...

LOL yea i have a buddy with toothpick fingers with me also haha

I just really want to fix this exhaust leak thing, because it is REALLY annoying. Im gunna try a bunch of different bolts, and get the OEM downpipe downnut gasket from mitsu tom.

alright man... one more thing too, try to hold the OEM gasket on while you put your downpipe on... you cant do it the lazy way--->tossing the donut in the downpipe and bolting it, i chewed up my gasket a little doin that...

just a little note
