All MINI's come with jacking "pucks" that fit into the oval shaped holes that are used as tie-downs in the unibody frame. These fit right into the EVO tie-down holes perfectly. Insert them into the hole and jack the car up safely on the "pucks".

They are made of some kind of hard resin/plastic and you can purchase them at any MINI dealer.

Thank you Corey!
I wonder if it's the same jacking pucks as those on the BMWs... I still got some
from my now-sold E36 M3 (was my STU car )

I would imagine that those BMW pucks might be the same. Let us know...

What are "tie-down" holes exactly? It's not a term I've heard before and I don't recall any point to tie anything down to on the underside of my car that would double as a jack point. Just trying to understand where the pucks go

I'll take a pic and post it later. They are basically oval shaped slots in the unibody where they put these "T" shaped hooks into. The steel is doubled up at these points too, so it's great for jacking the car up from.

They are probably about 1" by 2" and they are in back of the front tires and in front of the rear tires.

There is a good pic in this thread of the slotted hole in the unibody. You put the puck into the hole that he has the T-hook inside.

Is there any reason not to take that plasticy **** that is over the front jack point off for good? It seems useless.

it helps channel air through your radiator and intercooler and to the brakes, i'd leave it on or buy one of the aftermarket ones with jacking point access. it's also a must have for winter weather driving IMO.

it protects alot of parts and if you drive through semi deep snow with it off, look under your car and see how much gets packed up in all your parts! it helps to keep the engine bay a little cleaner too.

When you guys jack up your evo using the rear diff... did you notice how there's some play when jacking it up? IE: the diff moves up a little bit before the car itself gets jacked up. That's the only thing that bothers me about using the diff to jack it up...

I use the rear diff for a jack point, and have noticed the same thing. Doesn't seem to cause a problem. I assume the movement is taking up the slack in the diff mounts.

My favorite jacking points are either in my Lazy Boy infront of my computer, in the bath tub, or in bed if the mood is right or if something spicey is on TV. It normally looks like someone attacked my shirt with a Hot Glue Gun when I finished though.

This is what I did for now....put a soft cover book on top of the jack plate and used the normal side jacking points. No bends or damage at all, but it's obviously not the most stable thing ever so I put stands under it immediately.
