Custom Gauge / Instrumentation mounts
Custom Gauge / Instrumentation mounts
I fabbed up this neat little bracket.. I'm one of those people who likes to be able to easily see the instrumentation, but I also hate perminently mounted devices and prefer to remove them when not in use... So this is what I came up with..
The Unimount..
Basically it fits into either the left or right vent opening, and you can mount gauges, PDA, AFC's etc. to it, and easily be able to remove it when not in use, its secure and won't vibrate off. Not only that, but it can be used to mount items in areas not normally considered good for mounting electronics.
I realize that this may seem kind of cheesy, but as you begin tuning your car seriously, you begin to notice things such as nowhere to easily mount hardware (that looks decent). Plus I have a concern about theft which means I want to be able to quickly hide things when their not in use.
Anyway, the pictures show alot more than I can.
If anyone is interested please let me know, I can make these things fairly easily and I have found about 6 new locations where this item will work as a temporary or perminent mounting bracket.

Ok.. Not only can it be mounted to the cubbyhole opening, it fits INSIDE the cubbyhole opening to provide a flat surface to mount things to. I have even attached it to the windshield to use with a wideband O2 sensor and Knock sensor (great for tuners)
Its also just the right size where you can perminently mount it to the top of a spare ashtray assembly and quickly remove it.
Well, I look forward to hear from you guys, especially criticisms, It does kinda look cool from the outside of the car, especially with the Apexi brackets on it.

I have to say, that looks excellent with you SAFC/AVCR. It's like it was meant to be!
Hm, I only have the SAFCII so I don't know if I'd have a use for the second one... maybe if someday I trade in my ProfecBII for a HKS EVC I could use that.

Autometer.. the mounting cup is a standard 2" cup, and the gauge is a standard Sport-Comp 2 1/16 mechanical gauge. You can't see it in the pictures, but on the left side of the steering column, there is also an Autometer pencil shiftlight. Autometer In my opinion the best gauge out there. Ok, you have a profec, the place below the cubby hole is the perfect place for it, if you measure carefully, there's just enough room to cut an opening to fit in there like it belongs there, I have the RPM activated switch hidden up in there for the shift light.
I'm also going to fabricate another bracket that goes in front of the clock where you can mount 2 2" gauge cups, but unfortunately that would end up being permanent.

Hm, that's a thought...
I wonder if I'd have to fabricate a mount to get it there though. Oh well, I don't use the ProfecB digital gauge as my boost gauge anyway though.
Reading digital gauges on the fly is kinda hard, so I just stick with a normal analogue gauge. Less thinking involved, as you just watch the needle.
