Headlight Adjustment
The electronic adjustment adjusts all 3 bulbs. As far as left/right, I marked the top of each beam separately and adjusted each headlight to match up with the marks after turning the knob down.

My headlight is now doing the 'bobbing thing'. It only does it on the passenger side, and at the lowest two settings. I did the manual adjustment to the headlight mod a year and a half ago (with no problems, by the way), and am wondering if this is a side effect, or maybe if something is going bad (like the motor that adjusts the headlights).
Any thoughts?

I wish you guys would post which year and type of lighting system you are referring to, as there is clearly some deviation between the years.
On my 2005 NON-HID Evo VIII, I had to turn the adjuster Clockwise, not Counter-Clockwise, to raise the lights.
The easiest way to accurately adjust them is to find a long straight section of road at night, and have a friend help you with a flashlight. Turn your hazard lights on, cover one headlight with a coat or towel, and adjust the other with only the low-beam on. The right low-beam should shine a little further ahead than the left low-beam, to illuminate the shoulder of the road without offending oncoming traffic.
If you hear traffic coming up behind you while doing this, be sure to have your friend signal them to slow down with the flashlight.
On my car, the low and high beam are connected with a series of plastic gears and cables. They are fairly weak, but when I turned the adjuster, which is directly connected to the high-beam reflector, the low beam reflector would also move noticably with a slight delay while the slack in the gears and cables was worked out.
Thanks the pointers though, it really made my car drivable at night again, since installing the coilovers.

Thanks Killboy I figured it out myself. The high beam is directly adjusted from the bolt on the light but the low beam is adjusted from the weak plastic gears. Once I stripped my plastic gears which adjusts the low beam I kept on adjusting the bolt and thought nothing was happening but I raised the high beam so high that it went straight up. PITA.
PS I have an '03 with HIDS.

this is so stupid! thier are 40 dif people saying 5 dif ways to do this ... i have tried like it all the plastic gears are crap and i tried spinning them by my hand but they just are 2 hard to sping and dont stay a certin way???
how the crap do u do this! i have tried like it all and nothing works and my lights need it bad!
i have a 03 with the adjuster on the inside... if that helps

Evoisdream for the low beam adjustment you have to turn the plastic gears separately, if your gears are stripped, and you would need vice grips(the ones that lock and stay in place). That is the only way I was able to turn the plastic gears. You have to turn them many times to actually seem the lights move. And like I said earlier this method works on all models.
Yeah I know this sucks but this is the only way.

Great thread. To everyone that reads this thread with the MR headlights
The high beam and low beam are not together.
To adjust just the low beam you have to use the screw driver method.
On the passenger side I was able to grab a 5mm socket on the hex back of the gear holder and twist it by hand but the driver side had no room so screw driver was my only option.

Anybody try this on jdm mr healdights? I want to lower the drivers side beam, since it goes into oncomming traffic, or is it possible to leave it at the lowest setting on the in cabin adjustment, and just raise the passenger side beam? Will the lights re adjust if I mess with the in cabin swich after doing this "mod"?
