How to change break pads Part 1

First, you will need a few common tools. Small Sized screw driver, flat head screw driver, 5" C-Clamp, hammer and a rag.How to change break pads Part 1-picture-001.jpg

1) Now what you want to do is loosen the blots on the wheels, then raise up the car and set it down on some jack-stands. Then you would obviously take off the wheels to get to the calipers. Okay, depending on the side you start on turn the wheel all the way out in that direction. It gives you better access to the caliper where the brake pads come out.How to change break pads Part 1-picture-002.jpg

2) Now you are ready to grab the C clamp and your rag. What you want to do now is place the clamp on the brake pad and open it up wide enough to grab the front of the caliper. but, before you start, take your rag and place it between the caliper and the c clamp. (you don't want to scratch up the BREMBOS!) and now start to press the piston back into the caliper. do the same thing to the top portion of the pad for each pad to make room for your new ones. (It would probably be easier to do step 3 before pressing in the piston. it would give you more room to grab the pad when you are trying to press it back into the caliper.)

The pads should look something like this when the pistons are pressed back in.How to change break pads Part 1-picture-004.jpg

3) now take your small screw driver and place it in the hole where the pin sits. (you can use anything that is small enough to fit trough the hole.) now start smacking it out with your hammer, but only half way or the spring will fly out.How to change break pads Part 1-picture-005.jpg
