twice now in the last 20 minutes the # 8 fuse in the drivers side engine compartment fuse box has blown while under moderate load. The picture associated with the fuse is the same as the check engine light symbol. what might be causing this?

 

something seems to be shorting it out maybe a stripped wire grounding out check grounds also. i had a similar problem like yours and it was a stripped wire for me the one that goes to that fuse box also. also the ground for the fuse box was loose check those out.

 

loose connection, exposed wiring, wires touching, ground out issue.. could be a few things really.. just have to go through process of elimination. Good luck man.

Okay, it turned out to be the o2 sensor in the cat touching the bottom of the car any time I went over a decent sized bump. Got it fixed. Improperly hung exhaust mounts.

 

To the guys suggesting it's a short... It's not always. I fought a fuse blowing every time my AC / defrost turned on. I went through every wire in my car. Went through all the wiring diagrams. Spent 3 days chasing it down, turned out it was the fan control module. Sometimes it can be an actual electronic device that is causing the short / high amps and not a bare wire.

 

i keep blowing the same fuse everytime I turn the key to the on positon. It is fuse 8 in the engine bay. Anyone had luck fixing this. I do not believe that it is the o2 sensor.

 

The circuit from Fuse 8 goes into the MFI relay among other places. It's very possible that the MFI relay is shorting and causing the fuse to blow. The MFI relay is located in the relay center underneath the hood. Since most of the relays should be the same, just swap it with another one beside it to test. If if doesn't blow with a different relay installed, then you know that the MFI relay is faulty. Let me know how you make out with this. Thanks.
