Wingless

So, this weekend while washing my car, i decided that i wanted to see how my car looked wingless!
i proceeded to get the right size socket, took the bottom bolt off underneath the trunk, and goto take the second one out. MY SOCKET WONT FIT! :-/
i also noticed that theres some type of adhesive/gasket between the wing and the trunk that seems pretty tough to take off

i just looked through the DIY's and cant find a "How To Go Wingless" one.
can anyone help me out?

thanks

Its just double sided automotive tape once you unbolt it. You can use fishing line or dental flauce to help pry it off. It is held on pretty good but its not that big of a deal.

If you dont like the look you can always reinstall it (just like the factory) with the bolts and tape. Wingless ftw!

the right size DOESNT fit inside...
the second screw for the wing is up inside the trunk (underneath the rubber gromet that you have to unscrew)

You need a deeper socket maybe? I used a deep 10 mm socket with a 1/4" drive on mine.

Once you have the wing off....you are going to want to use some of this to remove the double sided tape left behind....

Anybody have tips on removing the plastic tabs that are left behind in between the two holes on the trunk? I'd rather just have 3 flush holes that I can plug rather than two flush holes and a raised tab in the middle.

I just pulled them out with some needle nose pliers... just do it slowly because I bent up some of the metal going to fast and just ripping them out

To cover your holes, visit a local print/sign shop (Fast Signs in my area) and ask for vinyl overlays in the color of your choice...have them cut circles about the diameter of a quarter and nickel...you'll have PLENTY to plug your holes and have spares.

Here are what mine look like...Apex Silver Evo with metallic silver vinyl overlays (basically a sticker the color of your car)...

These work great! Nobody even notices them!

I got some vinyl overlays, but I don't think it's sticky on the back. Anyone have ideas of how to stick them on there?
