So then can you take a Evo8's turbo and replace the hot side and cover plus all the 9 lines and be fine? The reason I ask is because my Evo9's turbo seems to be dying and could I just buy a 8 turbo that's in great condition and switch all of my hardware onto it and be fine or will I run into some complications? Also what does a turbo rebuild consist of and whats the going rate?

Depends what goes out on it, I've never replaced parts on a turbo but what I did was replace my 9.8 hotside with a 10.5. I got a extra 8 turbo for free from a buddy and just swapped the hotsides. Took mine off of the car and put in the new one simple as that.

Excellent information. I have been wondering how much different the e8 turbo was compared the e9 turbo.

Forced performance has parts for a rebuild or they can do it.

My Evo VIII's turbo went and the cheapest solution with an upgrade to boot was the HTA 71 cartridge as I wanted to go bigger if i needed a new turbo . I believe your existing lines will fit. Just get knew crush washers etc for the swap. One thing for sure is to remove your radiator so you have more room. I did mine with it still in and put a hole in it. Much easier removing the radiator.
