Going to be swapping my VIII cold side to a IX cold side mated to my ported 10.5 here very soon. Hope it is worth it. Plan to add a larger fmic than my BR Deluxe, MAP intake mani, MilSpec TB, head studs, new head gasket, Perrin intake tube, maybe a EBCS, and some other little tid bits. Hopefully the area under the curve is vastly improved if the peak numbers arent much better than now. Looks pretty straight forward. Looking forward to getting started here in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the write up.

I am going to install all of this stuff over the winter and get a CBRD tune in late March/early April so may be a while till results come in. Plan to do the turbo and fmic here in November but probably wont get the car totally done till after tax return.

I just did this Evo9 turbo swap today on my Evo8. I reused this line off my old turbo but it did not fit. I had to bend the line and one of the bolts still doesn't bolt up. It's not important, but I can't see how the 2 turbos share this line.

i've asked this question before and after 800+ views no one replied... I have a 03 with the 9.8, i just recently bought a 8.5 turbo for 150 (with everything needed to install)... My question was... What is the most i can get out of this 10.5 as oppose to a 9's 10.5... i know the housing sizes are different but i would like to know how much more i can get out of this over my 9.8... can the 8.5 support over 400whp like the 9 can?

Well you can finally have an answer sir... I am running the 10.5 hotside 8 turbo with basic boltons, stock 02 housing, no porting or anything, HKS 272s, and e85. I run about 31.5 psi and am making right around 400 whp. Another local guy here is running Kelford 272s, 31 psi, and a ported 9 turbo with 02 housing and he made 402/410 according to VD. Hope that helps
