clutch removal and install
I rebuilt my whole motor myself in my garage. Put it back in the car trans and t case bolted up already. When I bleed the clutch the retention clip came off for the TOB I took it to someone to pull the trans off. I had enough and knew it was a pita.
mm this was started last sept.. wonder if he's still on his garage floor tryin to do this..
to all you nay sayers.. i've done it twice just me and my brother..outside on the ground...yea its alot of work but its not hard at all....just follow evomoto directions step by step...did that the first time.. the second time didn't need instructions at all.. pretty simple, really just takes muscle

I have the head off my block doing a rebuild. pretty much removed everything. I have the pistons and rods pulled out, but crank is still in the block. the pulleys and belts are off the front oil pump cover. Just the oil pump cover is on. intake manifold is obvously not there, exhasut manifold, turbo, dp is all off too. Oil cooler off,etc etc.. At this point is it possible to remove the pretty much bare block with the clutch/flywheel assembly still on, and take out the block that way? It looks like the transfer case might get in the way, but was wondering if anyone has thoughts on this. I need to take the block out of the car now and I have enough room to slide it towards the passenger side. Problem is that the tc hugs the block in some parts and you dont have lots of wiggle room.
The clutch was really easy. You all made it sound hard. Finally finished school at whotech. Gettin a shop started in the northern il area. I've already fabricated a C5 twin turbo vette and an M3. We fabricate all our own stuff including exhaust manifolds.

I am sure mine is about to start slipping soon so I am gonna get it done professionally........Its not that I am lazy but ppl spend time and money learning to do this stuff, lets keep em employed lol......and from what I keep hearing its ALOT of work
My clutch just started slipping and I've had it done twice by my friends shop and he always does a great job but this time I'm wanting to do it myself. I've worked on DSM's for years and I know the EVO is a PITA but I'm mechanically inclined and have done quite a few clutch jobs. The benefit of my current clutch setup is that its the Competition twin that converts the car to push type clutch. So it'll be much easier without having to release the TOB. My friend told me he would help me out by doing it 50/50 and charge me basically half if I do half the work...but I feel like I can do it myself. I'm gonna be ordering new discs and TOB this weekend. Then I just have to figure out a time to work on the car. Prolly gonna order new bolts for the pressure plate and flywheel, Clutch fork, etc. this time. The car has about 74k miles on it.
