How to remove tint from tail lights?

Previous owner tried the evo VII look and it looks terrible. I want to do it again but curious how to get the tint off safely as the lights already look foggy to me. Help?

If its painted on the outside your only option is to sand it down with various different grits

Some tints can be removed with goof off or goo gone. Don't let it sit too long or it can eat the plastic. If that doesn't work. Hit it with 600 grit until all reds gone. Then go down to 1000 then 1500-2000 and then buff with plastic shine

Or worst case...pick up a set of OEM tails in the FS section. Seems like the stock USDMs are pretty cheap these days.

I recomend using a heating gun and trying to peel it off, same process when removing window tint. Be careful not to leave the heating gun in one area to long or your tail lights will lose its shape if theres any pressure on it.

Best way to remove any tint is to get yourself a steamer.. some people use the ones you use for clothes.. slowly move it about little by little. It turns the glue from the tint to liquid again and then it comes of with the paper. We used to do it like that when i worked at a stereo shop yrs ago..

Hope that helps.

if you know how to buff just wet sand them with 1000 or 1500 grit then buff them i did this recently also this method works well with yellowed headlights or any plastic baked by uv rays.

If its a film, you can easily take those off.
But paint, you could use acetone if its been there not for a long time
