And joeseph...right before I had this problem...my engine temp did sky rocket....but it usually runs a little warm and it was only maxed out fir like a MIN...then it went ba k down to just a little over the halfway point of the oil temp gauge. Sorry I didn't even think anything of it originally.

 

have you taken it to a shop yet? or have you figured it out?

take your radiator cap off and start the car. if you temps went up that far it could easily warp your head or blow your head gasket. an easy way to check is to see if there are bubbles coming up in the water at your radiator cap... or if you leave it on the pressure from the air will push the water out of the radiator into the overflow tank. If its blow around cylinder one badly enough it will drowned combustion...

 

had this happened to my evo 7, car idled funny and sounded like a subie..changed the coil packs, the ignition leads nothing happened then it turned out to be a fouled plugs!! cleaned the plugs and car ran totally fine.

 

I had a similar problem but higher rpms.......ignition coils my friend
