NEW - Helix RNA Series Intake

Helix Power is pleased to announce the release of its RNA series intake system for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII. The Helix RNA system replaces the restrictive factory air-box and rubber intake hose with a high-flow cotton element air filter and cast aluminum intake arm. This air filter is designed to work with the factory MAF sensor and includes all necessary hoses, clamps, etc. The cotton element filter can also be swapped out and replaced with the factory intake box in combination with the aluminum intake arm for a stealthier look. Available 11-15-04

GRUPPE-S RETAIL $185 SHIPPED

Without the filter $165 SHIPPED

Cal, I don't need my MAF sensor now, will this kit work if I don't hook up the MAF in between the filter and the pipe?

Cal,

If we want to retain the factory box, can't we just buy the pipe fopr a reduced price?

Thanks

All intakes are pretty much going to be the same. Doesnt matter if it's Cusco/HKS/Helix/Apexi, etc.

Hehe, yes it does resemble the HKS RS intake design. But in Helix's defense, there's not too many different ways to make an intake, here's a pic of Cusco's intake:

I think both HKS and Helix decided to go with the cast aluminum pipe over the welded tube in order to keep prices low. That being said the Helix one employs a cotton element filter and can be adapted to the stock air box.

Cheers,

Gary

Who cares if it copies the HKS system?! Your getting a version that is just as good, if not better made, for less money! All you pay for is the HKS name.

BTW, can the cone filter fit in the stock airbox, in order to retain the ram air effect?

Hi,

Unfortunately the cone filter cannot if in the stock box, as that space in the box is very restrictive. You can always run a high flow filter, but the real limitations of the stock intake is the box (180 degree turns to get into the turbo). We've saw a 10whp gain with this intake on our stage 2 car (untuned). A little more power can be extracted by tuning, and of course we recommend tuning whenever you are using an aftermarket intake.

Cheers,

Gary

When you say tuning do you mean like AEM, a reflash, UteC etc etc? Can this be bolted on and gain whp without running lean and stuff like that?
