NLR AMS 500 and 1000 Boost Controllers

NLR Systems AMS 500 and 1000 boost controllers represent the latest in boost control technology. These are, hands down, the best boost controllers in terms of repeatable, accurate, target boost levels. Whether you are using the controller for a single stage boost level or ramp rate feature for multiple stage boost control, this control will allow for precision and accuracy that a high horsepower turbocharged engine needs. This can be the difference between spinning or hooking the power you make. Compatible with air pressure or CO2, these controllers are based on a different control concept than anything else on the market. The NLR AMS 500 and 1000 measure and control boost based on the amount of pressure needed on the top port of the wastegate. With their closed loop, fast forward feedback technology, these controllers will deliver consistent, repeatable, precise boost control that no other controller on the market compares to!

NLR AMS 1000 boost controller

The AMS 1000 controllers are geared more towards those who are looking for a high horsepower drag race boost controller. The range of boost pressure the controller can handle with accuracy is sufficient for many Pro drag race teams.

Features include:
-Compact Billet Aluminum Enclosure.
-Latest FLASH memory technology for future software upgrades.
-Wide range of MAP Sensors supported. 30psi, 60psi and 100psi.
-Launch boost control programmable to range of sensor.
-Scramble input, increase boost with the press of a button.
-Reduce input, decrease boost level without lifting the throttle.
-Launch, Shift, Scramble, and Reduce inputs can be configured for +12V or Ground Activation. No More RELAYS!
-Graph view of Current Setup.
-Integrated Data Logger with Graph View.
-Shift Based, 1 to 6 stages fully programmable.
-GPS(Gear Position Sensor), 1 to 6 positions with Setup Wizard.
-Programmable Ramp Rate for each stage, 0-100psi per second.
-Ability to Ramp Boost Level back down to adjust for track conditions.
-Dual channel, Auxiliary channel may also be used for Live Boost monitoring, data logging.
-Includes AMS-1000 Control Unit, 60 psi sensor with lead, Harness, Control Solenoids and Installation/Instruction CD.

Price: $850.00 shipped

NLR AMS 500 boost controller

The NLR AMS 500 is based on the same technology as the AMS 1000, but offers simplistic, no frills boost control. This controller is perfect your average street/strip car as it still offers the same precise control as the AMS 1000, but is a 2 stage controller offering one ramp rate stage.

Features include:
-Compact Billet Aluminum Enclosure.
-Latest FLASH memory technology for future software upgrades.
-Built in 40psi internal MAP sensor.
-Launch boost control.
-Boost control staged activation can be configured for +12V or Ground Activation. No More RELAYS!
-Programmable Ramp Rate for one stage, 0-60psi per second.
-Includes AMS-500 Control Unit, Harness, Control Solenoids, and installation/instruction CD.

The AMS 500 is perfect for AWD applications since traction is not as much of an issue as it is with high power FWD cars or turbo street bikes. The 2 stages of boost control with the second stage being a progressive ramp is sufficient for most high horsepower AWD cars.

Price: $400.00 shipped

To see more about how these boost controllers compare to many others on the market, take a look at our boost controller comparison thread here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=318961. We have extensive experience with these controllers, so feel free to ask questions you may have. We feel these are the best boost controllers for the money on the market now.

The ad doesn't mention anything about direct 2-D boost vs. RPM control. Is this feature available? If so please describe how it works. (rpm input, 2D table, # of RPM points programmable, boost averaging between points?)

Thanks,

There isnt any. When you set a desired pressure to be applied to the top of the gate, it holds that pressure to regulate boost in closed loop control. Its dead accurate every single time. We have had cars with manual boost controllers have boost taper, and putting on either ams controller eliminates this taper. Just to clarify, these are for dual port wastegates only.

Also, the boost ramp rate feature for the various stages works with the closed loop control. You set the desired boost target, ramp rate for a particular stage and the controller holds it dead on every time.

Thanks for the info. I need a boost controller that can control boost vs. RPM, so for example I can set it to hold 25psi at 4K and ramp up to 30 psi near redline. . .

Do you know of any good ones that have this feature??

Apexi AVCR is able to do boost vs rpm. If you are running AEM EMS, you can run the boost solenoid and vary boost vs rpm as well.

isn't this a boost controller developed for motorcycles? How is it the best? Are there any subjective tests?

It's a boost controller. It's developed for cars, motorcycles, or anything else that's wastegated controlled boost. It's the best boost controller out there because it holds target boost within a 0.1psi, is fully rampable from 1-6 stages (depending on which model you are talking about), and can be activated time based, gear based, or speed based. It has scramble decrease and increase target levels and datalogging built in (AMS1000 only). This controller has been out on the market for over 2 years. Some of the fastest FWD cars are using this running low 9's on a 24.5 x 9 inch tire. It would work wonders for an AWD. Turbo 10.5 RWD cars and turbo motorcycles have set numerous records using this controller.
