Hey californian drivers, I just want to know the legal tint percent for the front seat side windows in California. I'm planning on doing the lowest percent possible to be legal and use that percent all around except front windshield. I'm looking at 20%, and please show pictures of your cars and their tint percent! Thanks!

zero. you cant have anything on the windshield or drive/passanger windows.

but every place will do it and few people get tickets.
it will just be a fix it. $10 fee and youll have to get it removed and have it checked off at your local chp office.

I did mine with 20% but then you can't really tell it's tinted or not... it's VERY light but safe at least... even when I got pulled over for exhaust, that pig never noticed.

BTW everything is illegal in people's republic of california, try not to stand out too much..hehe just my .2cent....

 

20% is OK but just be careful from those PIGS!

 

You got it mixed up there buddy. 20 percent means 20 percent visibility, which is pretty dark...what you have is 80 percent most likely. I just got 20 in the back and 50 in the front, and I love it. Front is light enough where you can see through fine (so you dont attract attention from police) but it still keeps out the sun, and the rear is nice and dark, but not limo dark. If you speed often, definitely do not tint the front windows.

 

minr is pritty dark all aound, but I always drive with the windows down so no one can really tell. Plus I live in the desert so most of the cops understand
