Stock wastegate actuator split on me

The car is 2 years old with 23k miles on it. Just by looking at it
the metal looks cheap. I haven't heard this happening to anyone
else so I'll chalk this up to a build issue.

Here's the replacement part. Forge Motorsport.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!. Did it split on you when you were driving hard.....or just normal driving conditions? How much was the replacement?

I'm not sure exactly when it happened. First thing I noticed was I wasn't holding steady high boost. Kept spiking. Thought it was a disconnected hose. turned out it was the actuator. Replacement was $170.00 shipped overnight. He gave me a great deal. It's a nice looking piece, serviceable and gauranteed for life.

Yeah, there's a release on Mitsu's tech program about the '03 Evos and how some of them may have faulty actuators... it would be covered for free if you took it to Mitsu I thought that was what my problem was (I'm running a whopping 15psi with ZERO leaks) but it wasn't but we talked all about it

Are there any advantages with the Forge piece over a functioning stocker?

I talked with Mike at Forge Motorsport. Realy great guy. Helped me out big time.

I didn't realy know to check the actuator. All I did was slightly tug on the air hose that connected to it. To my suprise the actuator was moving around like a bobble head.

i spiked to 22.5 psi the other day, this kinda worrys me.. im gonna go try and see if i can see anything just by looking at it... anything special to look at besides the wastegate actuator....

*edit*.. i just peeked at it and it looks perfectly fine.. almost brand new.. its prolly ok...

Got the part in today. Great looking piece! ! Weighs slightly less also. I'll be installing later today. Here's some pics.

a quick way to check your actuator is get a bicycle pump with a pressure gauge

connect it to your actuator and pump in a few psi (dont go over stock boost. you can just pump in like 5psi)
the actuator should hold the pressure.
if it doesnt, then you probably have a problem

the only gripe i have with the forge is (as you can see from the pictures above)
the nipple in is slightly bigger than the stock.
it just makes squeezing the hose on a little more challenging.
