Seibon CF Hood clear coat cracking
I just noticed my 6-7month old hood is cracking near the vents. I will try to get pictures soon. Im alittle pissed off. I didn't think I would have a problem like this so soon. I waxed the hood once a month. The cracks look like a defect. Anyone have this problem? Thanks justin
I have a seibon TSII cf hood that is cracking near the vents as well. Although I have a custom paint/clear job over the original clear/resin. Maybe the original clear has cracked all the way through to my top coat clear? It seems unlikely, but possible. Please post pics.
Do you guys (with crack,...
, that sounds funny heheheh) have the rainguard under the heat grill installed? That might help with the escaping heat, etc. ...just a thought. Tell Derek at Seibon about this. I QT'd a latch and fit issue for them for the past week.

My hood is cracked too in about 6 spots, it three months old. This pisses the hell out of me, and Seibon said they will not do anything about. At least I know what company not to recommend for carbon fiber parts, and now I know another product line not to carry for my company so I don't have to deal with unhappy customers.
Join the club guys...Our motors/manifolds put off ALOT of heat and its the cause for your cracking. I've had mine for 4 months, and it started real bad once the weather got cold.
To prevent it:
-Keep your car inside/garage...as warm as possible. When you do take it outside, hopefully the hood will be "warm" and the cold won't cause it to crack
- Apply some heat tape to the underside, around the edge of the vent(s).
Seibon won't deal with it. Its not worthy it anyway...buy the time you pay shipping both ways, you could just buy a new one.
Keep the OEM hood for best results

im assuming these cracks arent hairline cracks? and its cracking on the corner of the vents?
most cracks are cause by applying pressure to the hood.. ex.. closing ur hood. i know you guys dont slam it down but there could be times where u might have pressed down on the hood a little too much
