Question Clear Bra?

What's going on? I have been reading somethings on the clear bra lately, and i think it's a real good idea. Since i bought my 06 MR a month ago i already have a couple small rock chips on the front bumper and i really want to put the clear bra on. I know there is a how to article in the tech guide how to do your own clear bra, but it is not really something i want to do myself. So i was wondering if you guys could give me some more info on the clear bra and also if you know any places that may do the clear bra? Any info on the clear bra would be helpful. If any of you guys know someone around the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area or central New Jersey area that do the clear bra? Thanks for any info.

I think you can buy them online and then have a shop install it for you, i'll try to find the link for buying them.

Trying searching in the meantime.

If you go onto 3M's website under the automotive section you can search for installers in your area, I had a guy come to my house and do it, so I didn't have to drop it off anywhere.

i've heard very good things about Llumar as well... and a lot of people seem to prefer it over the 3m.

You can buy the kits. But the shops that install the clear bras actually send their guys to a school to learn how to do it correctly. I've watched 2 clear bras being installed and Im about to have one installed on my new Evo IX. Trust me it's not something you want to try to do yourself. It's a mess and it takes quite a while to get it on. It's SO worth paying someone else to do it for you. Plus if they mess it up while trying to install it, they have to replace it, not you. Im getting mine installed this weekend: Extended hood, complete bumper, side skirts, mirrors, and headlights for $417 and the guys are comming to my house and doing it in my garage! That's really cheap. Some places quoted me as much as $6XX. Anyway Im telling you man, you really do not want to try to put it on yourself. Good luck.

Check these guys out. Just put in your zip code at the bottom right and start calling installers up. They even tell you if their installers have been to school.

Not really the whole side skirt..just a small area behind your front wheel. As you look at the wheel from the side, it's the most bottom left of the paint. That little area. The guy I go through buys the big rolls of 3M film and he has the machine that cuts the kits, he brings it to my house and installs it in my garage. I had blue tint clear bra film put on the headlights on my 03 Evo and it looked awesome against the Apex Silver. Im just getting clear now with my IX GG.

Most places that do window tinting do clear bras as well.

It really isn't that hard to do. You just need a spray bottle with an alcohol/water mix, squeegee, heat gun, razor blade and, some patience. A garage or some other dust/wind free area would be good as well.

Do you realise you said "clear bra" at least once in basically every scentence and more than once in a couple of them. Anyways I would advise against trying to put it on yourself. Just like everyone else has said you should find a good shop to do it for you.

3M Scotchguard

Here the page for 3M clear bra ScotchGuard. There's also a couple of Cheesy Corporate narrated videos if you can stand watching the whole thing.

Just click on the "For Consumer..." link and that brings you to a Find a dealer, FAQ's, warranty info and so on. good luck.

For those of you who had installed or have seen it on installed cars, how does it look? I'm curious about how well the edges of this stuff hold up. Can you see the edge of the material? Do corners have any tendency to peel up?

DO NOT GET THE PRE-CUT LAYOUT!

There now that I got your attention, the pre-cut covers do not offer nearly as much paint protection as a custom installed clear bra, they leave a lot of the areas uncovered, and they are also uneven. You want someone to custom do the clear bra, custom trimming it around all the nooks and crannies, it should cost about the same amount, just please don't get the already cut kit from 3M, it will help but it will also be very noticeable.
