Stock head unit?

I just got a IX MR and i love it to death, but the stock head unit isnt too hot. Im not a real fan of aftermarket radios and i actually like the stock look, so im inquireing if its cost effective to put a SSL head unit and sub in the car. (if theres already a thread please point me there!)

OR....if i decide on a new head unit, are the stock speakers with the addition of maybe the stock sub be good enough to sound nice?

I dont want a head with animations or anything just simple clean and very well made. What would you do?????

THANX

just go to Japan's car audio site & get the deck that comes in the JDM 9's. it's a single DIN MD/CD deck that says "lancer evolution" in the top right corner. also has a better look to it.

I threw 2 12s in the back and the rest of the speakers are stock and they hold up just fine. I cut 'em off at 80hz w/the head unit

My suggestion is head to www.thezeb.com pick out a HU and a nice sub. AznFlip has a nice tut on how to fiberglass and you can make your own custom sub. It would be a lot easier than trying to mess with the SSL setup. just my .02
