stock head unit

Has anyone successfully installed a system (amp/subs) with the stock head unit? Im currently having some trouble, Im getting this mad hum coming out of the subs constantly, even when no music is playing and the volume on the h/u is turned all the way down. I used an RCA line converter and spliced into the back speakers, im pretty sure its not a matter of having negative and positive switched around and my RCA lines are not laying next to my power lines which i know can also cause interference. Im starting to wonder if it could just be a bad signal out of the head unit, this is why im curious if anyone has a system w/ the stock head unit... Also its not engine interference/noise because it also does it when the car is not on.
Any suggestions/help would be appreciated
Thx

that happened to me...so i guess u have to lower the output from the amp or something...i use to have a lightning audio amp and it was on max when i first installed it and realized taht even when i turn down the voule on my headunit the sound was still there and is very annoying so i decided to mess wit the amp a lil bit and reduce the volume on the amp....the hum should go away

I tried that, turned it all the way down actually... the hum is reduced significantly however its still there, further more i had these same subs and amp in a previous car... the only difference was i wasn't using an rca line converter and i had a pioneer h/u, i'd like to be able to have the same quality sound that i had in my old car, however i'd also like to keep the stock head unit. Im thinking that maybe if i splice into the wiring harness at the head unit and connect the rca converter to that i'll get a better signal. Unfortunately i dont know which wires are which from there, can anyone help with this, or give any other suggestions?

solved this problem, faulty rca connectors in the amp, luckly the amp also has high level input connections which i was able to use, although having busted RCA plugins isn't very nice, guess ill be buying a new amp.
