Autometer Boost Gauge with Steering Column Pod - Pics

I just put this in over the weekend. Kind of a fun install but what a PITA getting to the grommet in the firewall. I used these How To's as a guide.

IamHung's Install

Wicked05's Install

EvoMoto's Install

I used everything that came with the kit with no problems (I know others have gone with different tubing). I have read that alot of folks don't like the Autometer gauges but so far this one is working like a champ.

EDITED July 2007
As a result of the red boot on the bulb fading over time the color became more pink than red. I pulled out the bulb, pulled off the boot and used a red permanent marker on the bulb. I put the boot back on and painted it red too. That worked well for about 3 months than the same fading occured. I checked out 42DraftDesign's LEDs that replace the 194 bulb (at RedlineZs suggestion). I ordered the Red LED (SB-004) and High Intensity Red LED (SB-104). I have the High Intensity Red one in now. It is VERY red. So much so that the dash lighting seems orange at night as compared to the Red LED. There's quite a color difference between the two. I will try the normal Red LED soon. I included a picture below but you really can't see the color difference in the picture that you see in the car.

from the pics it looks like you only block the 150 mph area

do you block any of the tach?

That is what discouraged me from using that kit.

It looks like you did a good job with the install though

Rollmodel,

The straight on pics are pretty much exactly what I see in the car (tried to take them as close as possible to actual view). The tach is in clear view.

Thanks!

Kings Fan,

That color is stock. The kits comes with two jimmy caps for the bulb, red and green. I (of course) am using the red one. It seems to match pretty well. Thanks.

Silk,

I've gotten a few PMs on the cruise control unit. Here is a thread with some information on the cruise control. I had it put on at a local shop (so the install really wasn't too hard to do, just open wallet, hand out money, a few hours later it's done ).

More info on Rostra Cruise Control

lol...don't like the gauge pod...to each his own...had the autogauge...crapped out.. um...good luck with yours ...

noticed the cruise control right away...scrolled up to see what country you're living in and saw michigan lol...then looked at your year and model evo like "when did they start making cc evo's? " ...it's cool and economical however, ....there is a reason evo's don't come with cc...but i definetly can understand why u got it...i rather drive my car then get chauffeured by my car.

..again, to each his own...

you can always move the steering wheel up and down... so it should be blocking anything!
