brembo caliper issue
So i'm new here.... HI! Anyways, I just bought a '03 red evo, and i'm in az as the name hints, but i have an issue w/ the brakes. It looks like whatever finish brembo put on the brakes is wearing off. The dealership said that highly abrasive tire and wheel cleaners can do that. They said they can replace the calipers, at $800 a piece. No thanks, the brakes work marvelously, but they dont look good. I checked a body shop and a paint shop. Neither said they could do anything with them. Any recomendations?

^yes.
there's a HYOOOOGE thread on this already. You won't get them warrantied, Mitsu reps will claim the paint is a wear item.
The best results I've seen (besides the lucky few who had warranty replacements) is to sand or blast them (best to go to down to a primer surface) and repaint them with 500°C caliper paint. Clearcoat as desired.

Same thing happened on mine, and they warrantied it. Maybe its because the people that wash my car also wash the dealership cars, and the service manager saw that it was not happening to all of them. It did take along time before they did finally decided to replace them.

That was what mitsu told me basically, I wanted to see if it was worth a second opinion though. So how should I go about correcting the issue? Use that ?duplix? paint for calipers? I'm not dropping 3200 bucks for new calipers, cause again, they work perfectly.

there is a thread here in the tire/brake section that tells you how to fix it.

NO MITSU HAS TO WARENTY THAT!!!!!!!! that is that the clear coat is messed up. thats like that cause mitsu spilled brake fluid on the calipers at the factory. they try to blame brembo and say they sprayed the clear coat wrong but its their fault. if ur still in the 3/36000 they have to warenty that. my calipers started to chip and i got all four brand new no charge. 7600 dollas worth of brakes (mitsus price) fo free. if not go to different dealerships. some mitsu r real crappy!!!!!
