It's not their like 1600 deg F powder, but it is still got for several hundred degrees. I coated top and bottom, so we'll see how it turns out.... Ive seen engine blocks and valve covers done with the same class of powder. 90 deg weather today and over 100 miles driving and it still looks like it did when i took it out of the oven yesterday. hopefully it stays like this over time....

Yea thats what I am thinking sure the valve cover gets hot but no where near as hot as the heat shield maybe I will try it anyway and see just how long it lasts

Where do you get your powder from? I know the heatshield will get alot hotter than a valve cover, but I wanted to try it out and see what happens before I did it for someone else and it end up looking like poo..... My Evo and Dirtbike are the test mule

day 3, heatshield has seen heat, rain, and maybe some small hail.....still blangin

yeah i went through my trial periods w/ this too... musta tried 4 or 5 different methods, wasted 2 heat shields. my conclusion was, the only paint that will last is the the black/gray high ceramic paint, even the color high temp paint is not enough.

whats interesting is the black/gray high ceramic content paints arent really paint. once it dries, it becomes slightly powdery so hence never really melts or bubbles. well im sure u'd wanna do ur own tests but just trying to save u alil money/time

well my heatshield is still looking good.. no problems I got pretty close to matching the valve cover tonight. I just need to put the candy red on a little thicker over my base... I also PC'd Corey's heatshield in a mirror black as well as some of my dirtbike parts.

but the excess paint and runs that were on other places made up for the parts that lacked paint
