HELP: Pulse Starting on Engine Start Button for Evo X GSR
Hey guys,
Hoping that someone here can pinpoint for me what I wired up incorrectly or perhaps what the issue is. I wired up a S2000 Engine Start Button to my Evo X GSR. I used a 30AMP 4 Prong Relay. Look at diagram below. I changed up the wiring schematic slightly to work for the X. I hooked up prong 87 to the white (ignition) wire on the ignition harness. I hooked up prong 30 to the orange (starter) wire on the ignition harness. Prong 86 is grounded to the chassis. Prong 85 is to the engine start button farthest left wire. Wire 2 on the button is hooked up to the green wire behind the cigarette adaptor (positive) and Wire 3 is hooked up the the black wire (ground) behind the cigarette adaptor. BTW this is on a SSS model. I can still start the car the traditional method no problem, but when i click twice on the key knub and hit the button the car seems to pulse start when trying to start but doesn't quite turn over. Any ideas what may be the issue? Any insight would be most greatful.

Thanks in advance.

i'm guessing that the "brown plug" is the ignition plug located on the steering column??? if so, then the wire you have going to the "white wire is wrong. this circuit is completed by the key/nub (whatev). it is not 12 volts in, it is ignition out. this function tells the ECU i wanna start/keep my car running. the orange wire goes out to the starter, and yellow is 12v in... swap white wire to orange (same plug) wire... u should be good??? if u have a multimeter or test light, can check this. ground probe obviously to chassis, probe yellow wire, u should have 12 volts all the time. turn key 2 clicks, u should have 12 volts on the white wire, turn it all the way to start, and you should keep 12 volts on white, & get 12 volts on orange. this is a sure fire way to check this, I'm only going on info I found here: http://www.***************/forums/sh...ad.php?t=23094
so I would verify the wires 1st then go hookin stuff up??? do at your own risk/skill level...
good luck!

Alright update:
So the wiring schematic above is correct. The only thing I had to swap out was I tied the ground from the button that originally went to the cigarette adpator to the 86 prong on the relay and the power that originally went to the cigarette adaptor to the ignition wire. The X apparently seems to lose power at the cigaragette adaptor when you have the car in start position and will regain power once the car is started. Relocating the power source to the ignition wire fixed this! Works like a charm! Thanks again guys!
